    Gardener's Soap

    My garden soap is made using poppy seeds and oatmeal. It's scented with orange and patchouli and it's a very popular soap. I love that it's cleaning (action of poppy seeds) and soothing (oatmeal).

    How I feel about my current soap formulas

    If you're having fun and your soap is great to use ... don't be concerned. Due to the cost, I keep my ingredients simple. I chose the oils and butters I use after a lot of research, including decision like no palm oil, no animal products etc.

    SALT BARS - Need assistance

    I always make my salt bars in individual moulds, so I don't have to worry about the 'window of time' for cutting them. They unmould easily whenever you have time and you have lovely salt bars ready to let cure.

    Thought I knew how..but no.. :(

    I call in every now and then ... mostly to look at all the fantastic photos. Not sure what happened yesterday, but I decided to stop for a little while. Things have changed, but hopefully it's working well for those who most need/use this site!

    There's many ways of doing swirls, depending on the kind of result you want. When I do layers of colours, I usually do a 'coathanger' swirl as that allows the colours to move into each other. My favourite type of swirl, for ease of use is the ITP - in the pot swirl. If I'm adding two...

    Container to measure lye (Newbie Question)

    I use stainless steel bowls for the lye and water ... and these are kept for soap making only. I had a pyrex dish 'crack' a couple of years ago, when I added the lye to the water in it ... so changed to stainless bowls after that.
