    Butcher tallow soap

I've made my first tallow soaps about 3 weeks ago, and I was very impressed with my soap. It also stayed at light trace for a long time, which is very nice if you want to make swirls. The soap got hard fast in the mold, did not gel, I could cut it the next day, and the soap is now very hard to...

    Great Ylang Ylang FO

I LOVE fragrances and fragrance oils, so I am happy for you that you have found the perfect fragrances. I use to order FO's from the US (The Scent Works was my go-go supplier), but with escalating courier costs, and our weakening currency, it is not economically possible anymore :-( But I still...

    New to soaping !

Hallo Johncy and welcome to the addiction!! I have a very unscientific way to test my soap: I wait a week or so, and then I wash my hands with it. If it burns or feel very dry or weird, I know to cure it for about 2 more months before I try the handwash test again. If the week old soap feels...

Finally back making soaps after the Passing of my companion..

I'm sorry for the loss of your beautiful cat. Pets make life worth living. And your soap is gorgeous. LOVE the wood grain one. And I am crazy for lavender, I always make a lavender soap whenever I can, but yours is much prettier than mine!

    Soapmaking workshop

I work at room temperature at home, so it is hotter in summer and cooler in winter, but I live in South Africa where we have really mild winters, so I always soap between 20 - 30 degrees Celsius. I think it is also advisable, if you live in a humid environment, so install a dehumidifyer.

    Recipe query

I've read here on the forum that soaps with a high percentage of olive oils can get slimy/sludgy in the shower, so maybe lower your concentration of olive oil? A tip I have to keep your soaps harder for longer, is to have two or more soaps in the shower. So you use one today, take it out to dry...
