    Ciaglia from potentially rancid soap?

In the name of experimentation and learning ... you could make a little unscented batch (then you'll know what they smell like 😅) It is a risk to use potentially dos (or beginnings of) soap to make another soap, but if it's just FO fading, then sure, ciaglia would be a great solution. Waxy/oily...

    Oh no! Avocado Oil

Food fraud is an invidious and potentially dangerous practice (like China's melamine in powdered milk scandal). We have ok laws here, but not strong enough to stop adulteration (especially in imported items, which are labelled, but not always tested for purity/quality). Thank you for finding...

    How to create DOS

@Blufuz - that blue will turn green and eventually an orange brown (not specifically DOS, but a very similar colour, perhaps slightly more dirty brown than orange, but with an orange hue). I've found the same with brass - most brass will trigger dos rapidly.

    How to create DOS

copper doesn't always trigger dos in solid form (but it can in water, like water from a copper hot water pipe) I would try something like a crome shelf (the gridelines of dos are really obvious) or rusty iron. A kitchen window is a good place to trigger DOS (never thought I would say that 😅) -...

    Whipped sugar soap scrub ingredients??

I'll just add a small diversion into comedogenic oils. (Once you include free oils in any skin product, this can be a useful reference) https://www.holistichealthherbalist.com/complete-list-of-comedogenic-oils/ And for essential oils, Tisserand is excellent...

    Rosemary Oleoresin Overdose

Love that colour! (looks like the whole bar might go green - rind discolouration often does this, starting out the outside of the loaf as the soap is exposed to air)

    Ciaglia & Confetti Soaps

I am loving the turtle stamp soap ... so simple and elegant 😍 (truly they are all beautiful ... I can't believe you still have shreds left!!)

If I make an all oil soap with superfat...will there be oil left over?

The oil that isn't consumed by the lye/oil reaction will be left over. It is possible to make an oily soap. An RBO only soap would be too soft for my liking and if I were to make one, I would keep the superfat as close to zero as possible.

    For RASTAS13

Original thread: Introduction I wouldn't be opposed to a small amount of potassium carbonate as a bulking agent, but I'm not so keen on calcium carbonate. The quantity would need to be fairly small to avoid texture issues, and would impact the bubbles.

Coconut charcoal vs hardwood charcoal in soap?

The difference you want to look for is activated charcoal vs. charcoal. Hardwood charcoal could be plain charcoal (not activated), unless it states otherwise. I agree that activated charcoal made from coconut husks would be more sustainable than hardwood charcoal (my personal preference is...

Soap for use in salt water - mariners’ soap - sailor soap

Whipping air into it will work! One of the soap challenges was to make a whipped (floating) soap. https://www.soapmakingforum.com/threads/smf-march-challenge-whipped-soap.58858/ The host made a video on the technique and included that in the challenge notes.
