    Mould release ideas?

I'm thinking of trying a new method for making guest sized soaps, by using a 32mm PVC pipe (from the local diy store) cut into lengths of about 12" as the moulds. Simply wrap some cling film over the bottom end to seal it, pour in the soap & when cured cut into lovely little guest soap slices...

    Registering advice please

I'm in Ireland & in order to sell soap etc you need to get a cosmetic safety assessment (which I have) and then register with the irish medicines board. To register costs about $200 & you can list up to 200 products but you have to list each individual scent as one product. I finding this...

Soap making record sheets & batch details

LOL!! I did have that already,.. forgot to write it in the above post though! I usually use a few basic recipes, and then just switch around the scents & additives. Do i need to record the entire recipe each time or just put "Recipe number 2" and then list the scents etc?

Soap making record sheets & batch details

Hi all! I'm trying to get myself organised and get my head around the legalities of making soap for sale,.. its a bit more complex than I expected! I have my safety assessments etc sorted, but what i'm stuck on now is the record keeping side of things. I know I have to keep a record of each...

A Favor to ask on Facebook

Twiends.com The "Fans" you get from it are useless,.. not real fans at all, just ppl who like your page to earn points. BUT, if someone is searching for soaps & sees my page with over 3000 fans, they may take me more seriously than if I only had 5 or 6 fans. It looks like i've a hugely...

    Color Change over Days...

I have a cinnamon & spice soap that starts out a light tan & darkens to a rich chocolate brown as it cures,... some ingredients react slowly to the soapmaking process, so it can be trial and error when you are starting out. :)

    Sunflower soap

Lye is the only thing I can't get organic,.. but since its consumed in the process I don't feel too bad about using it.

    Sunflower soap

Pity! Organic Sunflower oil is €3.29 per litre,.. the closest after that is organic Olive oil which is €9.98 per litre here!! I am determined to stay 100% organic,.. but the cost is driving me crazy at the moment!

    Sunflower soap

I make all my soaps from 100% organic ingredients,.. which is a very expensive way to do it! I can get organic sunflower oil very cheap however, and I was considering trying out a budget range of soaps that are still 100% organic & natural, but made mostly from sunflower oil. Can it be done...

    Putting links in craft directories?

I'm looking for ways to promote my website & increase visitor numbers, and I was wondering if placing links in free craft directories would be a good idea? Can anyone recommend good sites to put links on?

Website advice please? Traffic but no sales!

OK,.. major changes have been made. I've added a facebook comment box to each product page for direct customer feedback & interaction. I've gone through the site & tried to sort out any misplaced capitalisation (a personal weakness of mine!) I've re-arranged the menu tabs to something...

Website advice please? Traffic but no sales!

Really appreciate the comments. I've added ingredients lists to the facebook shop but not to the website yet,.. will do that this evening. I'm not sure what to do about the homepage, but I will make an effort at simplifying it too,.. I had been thinking along those lines but wasn't sure...

Website advice please? Traffic but no sales!

I have my website setup a few months now and am getting a half decent amount of traffic through it,.. but almost zero sales. Improvements must be made,.. but I'm too close to see the problems! Please have a look at the facebook page & shop too as they aren't creating sales either. Thanks...

Citric acid turning my liquid soap wierd

So neutralising it is killing my soap? Is there any other way to make shampoos etc a bit more "eye friendly" and suitable for babies whilst only using organic products?

Citric acid turning my liquid soap wierd

I'm trying to expand my liquid soap range at the moment into shampoos and baby washs etc. but i'm having problems. My normal hand wash works perfectly every time, and has a PH of 9.2 . My experimental shampoo recipes have been working well and have similar PH levels. I would like to reduce...
