    Black Bath Bomb

Lakes with polysorbate 80 will accomplish a black bath bomb. Following Robyn's color study linked above will also be helpful, #5 gives me the best black bomb & water. You have to use quite a bit to get it dark black instead of just gray.

Can failed bath bombs be turned into powder?

I love a huge fun bomb.....but I also have a really deep garden tub so I can get away with a big bomb not being too much for my tub 😁

Can failed bath bombs be turned into powder?

Sounds like a great save! *most* who sell use the COG x 4. Hope that helps!

A little bath bomb help? Not fully hardening?

Hardeners like kaolin clay and cream of tartar are all good suggestions. Also, I would remove the epsom salt. It's generally not enough in a single bomb to make a therapeutic difference, and it's hydroscopic, meaning it will draw moisture from the air, thus causing your bombs to never fully...

Can failed bath bombs be turned into powder?

If it was too wet, then there is a good chance it activated some, which would mean it may not press into a bomb if you try to reuse the pulverized powder. It could also lose some of the flare when it's in the water. However, using as a bath bomb dust that you just pour into the water is really...

    Shower Steamer - Oxidizing

Are you using peppermint essential oil or a peppermint fragrance oil? If it's the latter, it could have vanillin in it which would turn brownish.

    Lotion bar recipe question

That's a good place to start. If you find it a bit to soft or melty, try these tweaks: 15% shea with 15% cocoa butter to firm it up some. If it seems too greasy, reduce CO to 5% and add that 5% to the soy wax (also helps it firm up too).

    Whipped Sugar Scrub thickening agent

You can melt some M&P, and drizzle it in while mixing to whip up the base before adding sugar. It helps give a whipped sugar scrub a bit more body/firmness that you are looking for. You can also go up to 200% sugar to help make it thicker.

    Bath bomb making

Mica will only color the bomb, not the water. As lsg suggested, using lakes will color your bomb and your water. You will need to use Polysorbate 80 with lakes to prevent staining as they are oil dispersible.

    Help.. Vanilla stabilizer

I haven't used either the WSP color stabilizer or the ZCS, but I have used Aztec's color stabilizer in bubble scoops scented with Vanilla Bean from Nature's Garden (very high vanilla content) with success. Slightly tinted a creamy white but makes it actually look more like ice cream.

    Just Scents?

I have used their FOs a few times. They have decent prices and shipping wasn't too long. They were bought out by WSP, so the processing and shipping times might increase. The FOs are hit and miss. Some are great, strong OOB, and behave/last well in soap.....others not so much. Most of the...

    Lotion bar recipe question

Sorry! Lemme clarify lol. I mean the 100% soy wax such as Golden Foods 415, that has no other additives! But yes, a complete replacer for beeswax! Depending on how warm your climate is, try starting with 35% or 40% soy wax with 5% cetyl alcohol as a beeswax replacer.

    Lotion bar recipe question

I use soy wax (100%) in my lotion bars. It does cause it to melt a bit easier, so I tend to use a higher % of soy wax than one would use beeswax. I also use a high % of hard butter with lower % of oil.

HP Soaping - adding milk after cook?

Hi Colette, Sorry, I have not used any milk in liquid soap making. You could use milk during the cook part, but not for the dilution as it will spoil. I have linked Alaiyna's blog post on making liquid soap with goat milk. That could be a good starting point for you to experiment with...

    Help with bath bombs

Epsom salt will draw in moisture, which if you live in a humid environment, it's very likely the culprit. Also, do not put your bombs in the fridge to harden. Just like if you were to take something out of the fridge and leave on the counter, it will form condensation. This is likely...

    DIY Purple Shampoo

The Violet #2 is what you need to get the purple you are referring to. Sydnet is generally better for your hair than soap. Swift Crafty Monkey has a blog as well as several e-zines for formulating shampoos and conditioners that are pH balanced for your hair. I would suggest starting your...

Help with Two Wild Hares Frosting recipe

LOL sorry, I have been a sterile compounding tech for over 20 years and forget sometimes that some terminology is not well known!
