    Rebatch Help Please

I hope this method works for you. I've learned most of what I know about soaping on this forum so I'm happy to help someone in return :D Hazel, I too made a couple of batches with a wooden spoon when I started soaping and I remember (now) that the spoon looked a little soft, fuzzy after...

    Rebatch Help Please

Hi Hazel, Thanks for letting people know about my rebatching method, I hope it's worked for some as it has for me. Also, thanks for reminding me about the wooden spoon. (I normally use a rubber spatula anyway, so I'd completely forgotten about that) . I'll edit my post. This is my...

    Rebatch Help Please

Hi, Its me. I haven't been on this forum for a while but I just saw the rebatching questions posted by MillieT. So I had to help. I've gotten my rebatching down to the point that really works for me and that I'm really happy with the results of the soaps. I had (still have) a lot of high % of...

I make tallow/coconut based soaps with added turpentine at trace and use that to clean my paint brushes. It works great. It also works on getting rid of stains on clothing.

    labeling help please

Hi, For those of you who sell soaps, how do you label your soaps? Do you label the botanical names of the oils? Do you print % of liquid if milk/cream is used? Do you label which soap is recommended for certain skin types? Do you label the percentage of a particular ingredient? ... Shea...

made round soap in pvc pipe...how to get it out!

Oil your PVC pipes with baby oil before you pour your batch in, the first couple of times will be difficult but after that the soaps come out easily. Sometimes my soaps just slip out of the pipes. I love using PVC pipes for soap molds now.

Am I impatient or did I goof?

PO is palm oil. But I find lard is much better if you don't mind animal fat.

    Rebatching Method Update

Hi, A few weeks ago, I posted my method of rebatching. Yesterday, I changed the method a little bit and it turned out better than my usual method. For those of you who never read the post, my method was to melt the old soaps with the new batch of oil at 50/50 in the oven. Stick blend until...

Glad to know that I'm not seeing things, or my computer has a ???? in it. But I guess now I have to have less faith in soapcalc

    SOAPCALC results change

Has anyone ever noticed that the results of a 'batch' on soapcalc change on you? I play around with the % of oils that I would like to use on a batch and sometimes the results come out different on the same formulations. Does this happen to anyone else or am I seeing things?

    Coconut milk soap tips?

I always freeze my milks for soap making. If they're frozen then I don't have to worry about it being burned or turning too yellow/brown, whatever. The milk always stay white when I freeze it ( in yogurt containers) completely.

    Shaving soap recipe feedback

IrishLass, What is the bubble value of your shaving soap? I'm trying to figure out a good recipe for a shaving soap but I can't decide what to settle for in terms of bubbles compared to creamy.

    Shaving soap recipe feedback

This may be a stupid question, but from the description of a 'shaving soap' that is made just with basic oils (no additives), can it be used for sensitive skin as well. I mean, if a soap has low cleansing, good conditioning, good bubbles and excellent creamy lather, that sounds like a great soap...

    Tallow soap smell

I just rendered my tallow again with a couple of rosemary sprigs. I can't really smell any rosemary but the tallow is a pale green. I'm really tempted to make another batch of 50/50 tallow and coconut. I just love it. It lathers so well. Maybe I'll just give it to the butchers that gave me the...

    Tallow soap smell

Thanks Everyone for the feed backs and tips. I normally render the fat once, but I don rinse well to get the yuck that clings to the tallow once it has been rendered. Maybe I have to do it again but with some rosemary. Sounds like a good idea. I think my hubby might like that more than the...
