    preservative

Thanks for the replies. Interesting about the anhydrous body butters not needing a preservative. Technically. Technically not needing it but probably benefiting with the added protection. I mean most people will just dip their fingers in it without a second thought. I know I have in...

    preservative

I've been researching a lot about preservatives. I've read some on this forum but most of my info comes from Swiftcraftmonkey. 1. Yes, preservatives are required for any product that has water in it or even comes in contact with water. 2. GSE (Grapefruit Seed Extract) is NOT a...

    Cute soap dish

I just got one of those too! I LOVE it! Mine is purpley/lavendar colored. Too cute. For the other soap dishes I have: I've got a kiln flattened beer bottle in the kitchen. (along with the fishbone one) It's kind of like those wine bottle cheese plates that you see all the time. I made...

DIYers - HDPE Sheets for Molds

So Dennis, have you ever made molds with HDPE? I've got all kinds of questions! I hope you don't mind answering them. My DH has all kinds of wood working equipment so he could make what ever I need. I'm just wondering how HDPE is for cutting on the table saw. And I suppose you'd want to...

Round Confetti Soap - pic intensive

jcandleattic! Thanks! Indeed you have inspired me! I've used PVC before too. I just thought your soap looked so much like a bowl of cereal that I wanted to borrow/copy the idea for the Fruity Rings FO. Jessirebq: I lined my PVC pipes with freezer paper. But you have tape the flap of...

Round Confetti Soap - pic intensive

jcandleattic! I love those! I make confetti soaps with my trimmings too. I like using Fruity Rings (Froot Loop) FO from NG. Would you mind terribly much if I borrowed your idea of using the PVC pipe? I just adore that look. Reminds me of a bowl of cereal with little bits of broken...

    Ordered a tank! (Pictures added!)

Thanks everyone! It's nice that ya'll think ol' Sherm is lookin' good and all but hands off ladies! He's MINE! :D! I think Carebears initial statement of "fondling" did come into play once or twice since Sherman landed on my doorstep. debbism: I love that sound too...

    Ordered a tank! (Pictures added!)

I thought I'd show a picture of my Tank on it's inaugural cutting! I love him. I've named him Sherman. My husband will be building Sherman his own special parking garage (shelf) in my soap storage cabinet. Sherman gets his own space all to himself so that he doesn't get hurt while he's...

    Celestial Colors! <3

Ah. Yes. Both very good answers to the problem. Thank you both for responding. Steric acid. I can see that. I stir my palm oil the best I can but that could be it. I think I'm leaning more towards the air bubbles though. Three reasons: 1. I used the same ingredients in both...

    Celestial Colors! <3

These are the first soaps I made with Celelstial Colors! I must say that I love them! Thanks to Krissy who told me about them when I had my "Colorant Tantrum" on the CP board. http://www.soapmakingforum.com/forum/vi ... hp?t=30377 The two toned green is "Basil, Sage and Mint" from NG...

Lip balm "top off" pour fell off

I fill my tubes to just under full. So I can hit my lip balms with the heat gun a little just to get it a tiny bit melty then top them off. Careful you don't heat them too long. The idiot that I am ended up melting the tops of the plastic tubes a little bit. Doh'! Irish Lass...

    Colorant Tantrum=RESULTS (Better Pic Added!)

Hey! Well would ya look at that? I did figure out how to get it bigger and directly on the page. 8) Whaddya know? I didn't think I could figure it out. Too bad that the picture isn't any better than it is. Craptastic cell phone photo. Sorry. So Krissy you don't have...

    Colorant Tantrum=RESULTS (Better Pic Added!)

Here are the results of something interesting. I originally had a "Colorant Tantrum" (See this post for original thread: http://www.soapmakingforum.com/forum/vi ... hp?t=30377 ) because of one TKB's colors not coming out the way I had anticipated. So I inquired about what others were using...

    gremlins :(

So who sent the soap gremlins to my house? I had a great soaping day yesterday. Or so I thought. My 2nd batch turned out great. But my first one? Not so much. :( Same recipe but different FO's. Started getting some separation with the one FO but I beat it back together. Or so I...

    CPOP soap makers

I've used both. But a caution on your silicone ones. Make sure that they are OVEN safe ones. I had a small mold that was silicone-like. Turns out it wasn't actually silcone. Found out that one the hard way. :( Got a little melty in the oven even at only 170degrees F for even a little...

    Brambleberry lotion kit

Here is the response from Bramble Berry regarding my question: "Thank you for emailing Brambleberry! Great question! In our testing, we haven't had any problems with mold growth without holding the ingredients at a certain temperature, as long as we use preservatives. Some really important...

    Brambleberry lotion kit

You have a very good point. I have a healthy respect for all the B and B folks here on SMF and just wanted to get their opinion on it. Just because. Just for giggles I might just e-mail Brambleberry. Just to see what they say about it.
