Having trouble with vegan palm free recipe

That soap is gorgeous!!! Good to know I can do it. Think I need some refined Shea butter and will try your recipe to see how it works for me, thanks for sharing. That said do you find it at all drying with that much coconut and castor oil, I usually don’t go above 20 & 5 percent.

Having trouble with vegan palm free recipe

I'm going to give this a try, looks interesting. What would you say is a cut off for using hemp oil?

I am using unrefined so I’ll switch that up. Does the same go for cocoa butter?

Having trouble with vegan palm free recipe

Wow, good call on the stearic spots, I saw a couple in there when I cut it. I thought it was titanium dioxide, didn’t realize this could happen from high butter percentage.

My first failure - rebatch advice

Thanks for the advice I will give this a try! Any advice for when to use SA? Do you formulate a recipe with using it in mind or add it when you just want to make a recipes hardness rating higher?

Having trouble with vegan palm free recipe

Thanks for the tips, I haven’t tried any texturing other than the swirls yet so maybe that with some hemp hearts on top and a solid colour is the best way to approach this oh and I was at 105 the first time so I tried 120 this time, didn’t seem to make any difference.

Having trouble with vegan palm free recipe

My two primary recipes I make are lard and tallow based, which I get from a farm that renders organic grass fed animal fats. Problem I’ve found with the lard is that is seems to eat up my scent, just the organic stuff not the store bought, any idea why? Love working with both for artistic...

Having trouble with vegan palm free recipe

Glad you mentioned hot process as that was my thought as well, going to give that a shot, not that it’ll help with the artistic side but at least I can control the process and even super fat which will be nice. I’ve been meaning to do a line of face soaps via HP anyway. I did manage to get...

Having trouble with vegan palm free recipe

Can anyone help me with a recipe for a palm free vegan soap? My sister in law can’t get enough of it and loves the soap I make for her but the problem is the ability to work with it, I have trouble keeping it from solidifying almost instantly. I’ve only done 2 batches and they both turned out...

    Flower design - first attempt

Well this was only my 10th batch ever so I’m very proud of how it turned out but any advice for how I can get better at this style design is always welcome!!!

    Breast Milk Soap Experiment

Well I’ve now tried both recipes with my tester bars and I have to say, not much of a difference at all. The breast milk one is a bit more creamy and a bit less bubbly in terms of the lather. Both seem to give me about the same amount of softness in terms of how my skin feels after. So there ya...

    Tallow question

Sorry I feel I should clarify, I’ve made batches with both the tallow and lard I get from a local farm. She commented that the tallow has a Smokey smell but that soap turned out wonderfully. The one I made with the lard which was perfectly fine as far as I know seems to have eaten up my scent...

    Tallow question

Question for you, do you find your home rendered lard to have a strong smell? Made a batch last night and used 6% essential oils but it still smells a bit like lard this morning, seems to have overpowered the lavender/Junipe/grapefruit mix I used.

My first failure - rebatch advice

Thanks you! Sadly I felt like I had to with the lack of scent and unmelted stearic acid but it did look cool as hell! Gonna try and recreate the design with my next batch.

My first failure - rebatch advice

Gave this a shot about a week ago, thought it turned out pretty well actually but it was SO spongy the next day. Left it for another day and same thing so I figured whatever and tried cutting it. Not problem at all to my surprise. But again still very soft. Here we are a week later and it’s...

    Tallow question

Fair point, I could make some nice manly scents to go with it.... hmm

    Tallow question

It really is amazing, I didn’t want to learn how to render it on my own and took a while to find a farm that did organic meats as well as render it for me. I drive an hour and a half to get it lol Thanks for your input, I’ll try a small batch and let everyone know in case anyone is curious.

    Tallow question

Hey everyone! I get my tallow and lards from a local farm and their most recent batch of tallow “got a bit burnt” according to the owner. They’re amazing and just gave it to me so of course I figure why not. So, will using slightly “burnt” tallow cause issues with my soap? FYI, it looks...

My first failure - rebatch advice

Well I guess it was bound to happen... screwed up my first batch the other night after making my first 4 without a catastrophe. Not only did I forget to put the essential oils in but I also failed to melt the stearic acid, learned the hard way to do a bit more research as the article I read said...

    Breast Milk Soap Experiment

That’s pretty well what I’m expecting, about the same end result but the nice part is that my hubby has horribly dry and sensitive skin, so if anyone will be able to tell the difference (assuming there is any) it’ll be him. PS I haven’t and don’t plan to tell him which is which... luckily he...
