    Coffee Soap?

I make a "Manly Man" soap that has beer AND coffee grounds (my boyfriend's favorite drinks) and is scented with dragons blood that is one of my best sellers! the coffee grounds are a nice exfoliant, and I have not had any complaints that the grounds are too sharp or too rough. I think I will...

    Water discount

sorry, I do not know anything about alkali precipitate, but I do a water discount of 38% and I love it. It DOES speed things up ALOT! Last week I forgot to change the water discount on soap calc (lye concentration) box on one of my batches, and now the soap will take FOREVER to dry :-(...

    HP with fresh goat milk?

I used to use the low setting on the crockpot, but it was just way too hot. I start it off on low (when melting the solid oils, and then just to get everything going), but then I move the temperature to the warm setting, which is about 170 degrees, according to my laser thermometer. I do...

Shopping carts and templates for your website?

Hi Deda and MadPiano-- I also have zencart but feel "stuck" because the templates I have seen all look the same. I have looked at your websites and I love them. My web person just quit because I kept tweaking the look of my website. Obviously, we had different aesthetic ideas, lol. I hope...

    HP with fresh goat milk?

I have done it both ways (1/2 water to dissolve the lye, then add milk later; all milk to dissolve the lye), and have never burned or scorched a batch. But the soap does come out lighter if I add the milk later.

    copywrite infringement

This discussion brings to mind a Kenny Loggins concert I went to a few years ago. His breakthrough hit was House on Pooh Corner. He wrote it when he was a teenager. Kenny said Disney let him slide because they probably figured, he's a kid...nothing will come of it.... But little did Disney...

Researching Curing Racks. Found this one. Opinions?

I have three of them I use as shoe racks and one as a catchall bench by the front door. They are small and yes, I think they would work. They are also stackable. I think I paid about $13 or $18 for them at Costco, but I could be wrong.

Which molds to buy, and question about drying racks?

I got my no line mold at soaphutch.com I LOVE IT! Here is a picture of all the configurations it can do: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 32.3431941 It was a little difficult (make that REALLY difficult!) to get the soap out for the first 2 or 3 batches, but now the sides just...

    My soap seems so drying

I agree with Northland Naturals: drastically reduce your coconut oil and increase other, less drying, oils like olive oils. I had the same problem, even though my skin is not prone to dryness. I lowered my CO to between 15 - 18% on the advice of an experienced soaper, and now I just love how...

how to put lard on labels

THANK YOU, ALL!!! I am grateful for all the responses. I also list EVERYTHING on my labels for the same reasons so many of you have listed: allergies, religious reasons, and just plain aversion to animal by-products. However, I do find that the word "lard" is a turn-off for a lot of my...

how to put lard on labels

Hi Everyone--someone whose shop and business sense I admire on another forum puts this on her label: Ingredients: Raw goat milk; Saponified natural fats, coconut oil, olive oil, soybean oil; Fragrance; Natural color. I am assuming that the "natural fats" refer to lard or tallow and I...

    Which Book?

Zonella's book will save you LOTS of time doing online research....it's all there....it is really really good....I also highly recommend the Miller website...it is very comprehensive. These two resources, I feel, give good and accurate information and should be all you need (with the exception...
