Ugh, I placed an order last week and got the notice yesterday that my order would be shipping today. Guess it's cross your fingers time.

I'm looking for a New Love..

I shudder to think what an FO called "Eat Me Raw" must smell like.

i just found lye right by my house!!

I have not seen lye Lowe's or Home Depot - there are drain cleaners, but not 100% lye. I've only found it at Ace Hardware (Rooto brand).

I ordered tussah silk from TSW recently, haven't gotten a chance to use it yet though. http://store.scent-works.com/tusnoilsilfi.html

    Anchoring scents

Have you found that there certain oils/butters/additives that will help scents 'stick' in soap?

    Divine Vanilla Spirit from Daystar

Has anyone ever soaped this? If so, how did it behave? Spirituese Double Vanille is my favorite scent ever, so I just have to try and soap it.

    Palm Oil

I thought the shipping charges were pretty reasonable, actually. Granted, I'm just getting started but I was charged less to ship 7 pounds of sustainable palm by Columbus Foods than I was 8 ounces of FO by ScentWorks ($7 vs $10).

What did you make this weekend?

I made my very first batch ever this weekend! Still in the mold, poured it about 5pm last night. Used Ambra del Nepal from TSW.

Where to buy a reasonably priced, quality soap log mold?

I'm doing this as a hobby as well and am not willing to pay outrageous costs.... however, I'd sooner pay $45 to someone who has been in business for years and built a reputation, than $30 to someone just starting off and selling 'less than perfect' products. I guess you have to decide which is...

    Is rapeseed oil canola?

Lush isn't one lady, it's a big company with locations all over the world. They switched from a base that included palm oil to a palm-free one a year or so ago. It sucks. http://www.lush.com/

    Spiritueuse Double Vanille FOs

Has anyone here CPed using a Spiritueuse Double Vanille type FO? I have bought other products in this scent and I absolutely love it. I'm hopefully going to make my first two batches of soap in the coming weeks - I'm going to do a lavender/vanilla scent for my mother & sister, and I'd like to...

    Took the first step..

I ordered my soap mold yesterday! I got the smallest log mold that Upland carries, which makes 2.7 pound batches. I know it will take a few weeks to be delivered, but I'm really excited! :D http://www.uplandsoapfactory.com/store/ ... t=2&page=1

    Anyone in Georgia?

I am new-ish to the area and was wondering if there were any local suppliers of EOs/FOs, carrier oils, lye, etc. I'd like to shop local as much as possible. Thanks! :D

Newbie getting started, looking for advice

Thanks for the links! :D I'll check them out. I definitely don't expect to have the ideal recipe handed over to me and I hope my question didn't come across that way. What I was looking for opinions on was: Should I do my research and right off the bat I attempt to put together a recipe...
