    My lesson to slow down!

I am embarrassed to admit this but maybe it will save someone from something similar happening to them. Last week I was reminded a very valuable lesson to SLOOOOOW DOWN! I make batches of 5 loaves at a time and have what I thought was a pretty good rhythm in my set up and pours. Everything ready...

Not sure how the glycerin will work with the curing and shrinking in CP soap. The glycerin bits sweat a bit but so far it is holding up. Curious what results...

Beeswax in small glass jars hissing and crackling

My most recent beeswax candles have been crackling and hissing when lit. I use beeswax (various suppliers) and add some coconut oil and vanilla essential oil. they are in 4 ounce canning jars with hemp wicks. I think the essential oil I used in the latest batches is a new one for me, what is...

I just moved all of my (newly replaced) soap making supplies to my new yurt on the hill overlooking my burned home. we lost everything I have ever owned last August in the CZU fires. an off the grid home my husband built where we raised my 3 kids and lived for over 30 years. we had to move into...

    small cylinder molds splitting open

My 2" cylinder imbed molds have been splitting lately. The soap cylinders 2 sides split open in parts and do not unmold in perfect rounds and tend to crack the soap as it opens the mold in areas. I even try to rubberband 3 -4 spots to hold it together before I pour and keep it banded for a few...
