@TheGecko @Prysm @AliOop Soon I'm going to make multiple batches of my tried-and-true LARD soap recipe. I need some suggestions for a gender-neutral FO for the next few runs. I might have used 12 bars of the 240 bars that I started making almost a year ago. I forum user here kindly gave some...

    KeepItSimpleSoap Overview and Results

This may end up being very wordy as I intend to explain how this all started, and it may as well serve as an introduction to people who have joined the group after me as well as an introduction to those veterans that don't "study" the other user's info and posts here. Also I will be posting my...

Modifying CP recipe for more Lard bars

I've been using the same recipe the last few weeks that I used 2.5 years ago before I found soapmakingforum.com that has a soapmaking calculator. I was trying to plug my numbers into it and it is all a little confusing to me. I am expanding my old recipe from 12 bars to 18 bars now that I will...

    Possible Shampoo Bar Recipe

I have been using my CP 100% Lard Bars in the shower and they seem to be cleansing yet easy on the skin. Now people, especially women with beautiful hair don't cringe on this one. I have been using Yellow Dial Bar Soap on my hair before I use shampoo. If I don't my hair will look and feel...

    Parts for a soap cutter

I recently made my first block of soap and I knew that I would have to cut it soon and somehow. I used an old knife from the kitchen (retired) and I didn't cut it well as I would have liked. I'd been thinking about the parts to a soap cutter, what I might have and what I might need. I knew that...

    Coffee CP Soap

Here is a picture of my CP soap that I made this past Sunday afternoon. I replaced the water with some leftover cold coffee and then at light trace I put in maybe two tbsp. of dry coffee. The tan color is from the coffee and the dark specs from the ground dry coffee. The colors have good contrast.

Lard CP soap for clothes washing

I can easily make me some "soap dust" by sanding a soap bar on a piece of course grit sandpaper. If I mix this 1:1 ratio with A & H washing powder is that a good mix and how much total mix would I need for an average washing machine? I know that machines vary from one make to the other and water...

My heart goes out to alll of Australia and trying to locate a few Aussies

I can't believe the devastation that I saw on the World news earlier this morning. Several Aussies have lost their lives in the fires and over a half a billion animals. All of us that pray, pray for all of you. Many years back I met some Australians that were touring around the U.S.A. They were...

I looked back and first I can't believe...

    Milk Carton Box Mold

This morning As I was finishing off a 1/2 gallon of Hood Low Cal Chocolate milk I said to myself "That would make a good disposable wax lined box mold for soap". I washed it out, did a little measuring and then got one of my sharper knives and cut it into this... (I hope the pic is good enough...

What type or brand of FO for CP Lard soap

I'm about to make another batch of CP Lard soap. I don't mind the plain smell however I thought that I might add a Fragrance to my next batch. I remember that one year I took a couple of Christmas trees to the local botanical garden. They were putting the spruce Christmas trees through a wood...

Tested my 100% Lard soap bars

On Christmas day (12-25-19) I tested my Lard soap bars. It had been 31 days since I made them and I really didn't expect them to be fully cured. My original plan was to let them cure to the 15th of January. The soap made bubbles and washed my hands well but it left a greasy film. I didn't feel...

As I stand at the range periodically cooking breakfast or rendering Lard I keep noticing a little 8.5 oz bottle of extra virgin Olive Oil. I have considered a simple recipe based on the number of oz in the bottle that cost $1- at the DT. Based on my 25.25 oz recipe of oils the new recipe would...

I just got home from purchasing a blender and I am about to make my fourth batch. My question is when it gets to the trace stage should I get the soap mix out of the bowl and right in to the molds? The first three batches I remember stirring for another minute. Should I go ahead and get it...
