Lotion’ Whipped body Butter & More

@Peachy Clean Soap , Meadow foam oil certainly sounds interesting, I like the sound of its long shelf life. Are you going to make moisturiser with it?

    Sodium Phytate?

Very true. I will often recommend clients use citrus oils in vaporisers or to use low dilutions on leave on body products, as they are high in terpenes, which can easily oxidise, creating peroxide’s. I like using that example as most women have heard of peroxide’s 😉 Does anybody ask their oil...

    Sodium Phytate?

I’m not a chemist, but isn’t the reason why DOS occurs is due to rancidity of oils is mainly due to temperature/light/O2 exposure to the oils? I would think if you are using distilled water, then the amount of metal-catalysed reactions occurring within the soap would be low? I’ll certainly be...

Need advice from the left handed people

Yay, I can now use my left handness as an excuse as to why my cutting is so crappy!!! I thought I was the only one 😉

    Soap Maker Personalities

Fascinating thread. I’m a massage therapist but don’t like to be touched outside my family unit. I have a very acute sense of smell and I hate synthetic fibres, it’s bloody hard to buy a sweatshirt or hoody without polyester! Maybe the creativity gene is due to how we view the world around us...

    Sensitive Skin

@The_Phoenix I am with you. I use Rose Hydrosol to wash/cleanse and while face is still damp, moisturise with jojoba oil. I have horses and we've had a bit of a drought this year so conditions are very dusty, sun screen also doesn't help. I'm quite disgusted with the amount of dirt I wipe off...

    What's good with Lemon-Eucalyptus?

It all comes down to how much citronellal is in the essential oil, Lemon eucalyptus has 70-75%, while Citronella only has 30-48%.

    Gauging the Masses

I notice quite a few fragrance sites often list their best sellers. I know from an Aromatherapy point of view, that citrus is very popular as it's easily recognisable, then there are floral, woody, spicy, green, sweet etc, I imagine that would cover most bases. Google fragrance wheel or...

    What's good with Lemon-Eucalyptus?

@KiwiMoose Lemon eucalyptus is a top note so I think you'll find it will loose the intensity as your soap cures.

    What's good with Lemon-Eucalyptus?

@KiwiMoose, looks lovely. I’m a fan of Rosemary, if you‘re keen, I’ll swap it for you with another essential oil if you like ;)

    What's good with Lemon-Eucalyptus?

😁 I would probably up the ho wood so the cedarwood doesn't overpower. 15% Ho, 15% cedarwood. Do you have enough ho wood? No, lol. Being an Aromatherapist/massage therapist I'm usually looking for therapeutic effect and then smell, lol. I did make a mix the other day when lemongrass...

    What's good with Lemon-Eucalyptus?

I would mix up oils you think would be nice to half off what you would use in the mix, if it needs adjusting, you can do so then.

    What's good with Lemon-Eucalyptus?

I haven't used ho wood but looking at it's scent profile, it's slightly spicy, which would be nice. I presume you weigh out the oils?
  14. Aromasuzie

    What's good with Lemon-Eucalyptus?

What essential oils do you have? This is for next time as it sounds like the soap has probably been made, lol. As the lemon will be the "top" note, you could mix with spicy and woody oils, ginger, lemon eucalyptus and patchouli or it can uplift some of the "rosy" oils, like geranium and...

Bentonite Permanently affected by Stainless Steel?

@Zany_in_CO I've had clay issues when gardening too, but it's the pottery stuff that bounces my spade back up at me. I love that you were able to process your own, very cool! I've had a quick look and can now source bentonite clay from our own country, very cleverly marketed as NZ Glacial...

    Distilled water shortage??

@earlene am I correct in thinking that DOS is due to oils becoming rancid? If that is the case, would the liquid portion of the recipe have any contribution to that process? I haven't used distilled water even though it was recommended in many articles as I thought that several hundred years...

Bentonite Permanently affected by Stainless Steel?

I've just been reading this thread, and I am aware of the Humblebee and me article. Surely at 1tsp PPO the removal of toxins would be a moot point due to the amount present (%), within the soap. Most of the research done on clay regarding "removal of toxins" was oral/internal use. I love clay...

    Uncommon Saponified Oils

@coconutoliveallergyp did you try the rice flour and rose water? I understand what you're saying about not feeling totally clean just using water. That's why I like the flours for cleansing, you get that scrubby feeling, which can be adjusted by the coarseness of the flour. If you react with...

    Distilled water shortage??

@earlene thanks for the explanation. I only noticed the differences in prices between water and sodas sold, as I figured the soda had sugar in them, which should have made it more expensive. Not all of the waters sold are distilled either. Water rights have been highlighted in the last couple...

    CBD Soap?

HaHa, yeah, the whole bloody referendum was a balls up. Medical cannabis is so expensive, I am using the CBD, which is non-psychoactive, the Doctor quoted $450 a month! At least if the referendum passed I could have tried growing my own. I was kind of expecting customs to turn up on my...
