    CPNP

I think Brexit has everyone confused. As I understand things, you can only register on the UK portal but if you plan to sell to customers in Europe (from Etsy for example) you need to have a 'Responsible Person' who is based in Europe. My advice would be to seek advice from your safety...

    Soy Wax Use in Soap

@ilonaliss I use Eurosoy800 from Livemore, it's lovely in soap. I have used it as high as 26% with no issues but have now settled down to 10-12%. You just need to get used to soaping at a higher temperature and I find that I need to CPOP but it's all second nature to me now:thumbs:

    Citric acid as a chelator

Hello @LoveSonam. This post is 4 years old but seeing as how I have an answer that can help which doesn't happen often I'm just going to go ahead! DeeAnna has written this very useful information: Citric acid, Citrus juice | Soapy Stuff and if you are not confident with the maths then you can...

    UK MSDS question

If you use an ingredient that is bought from a supermarket and is food grade (olive oil, coconut oil, goats milk etc) then you don't need an MSDS for your assessment but you do need one for your Product Information File. You can make one up yourself. You need to keep track of the product name...

    Yo! from Glasgow (Scotland)

I use real beer in my soap now and then, it makes a lovely lather in CP soap. Do a search on here first though so that you learn to boil it down first otherwise you run the risk of a volcano;)

    Lotion Bars w EOs Arrowroot

On Swift Crafty Monkey she recommends adding IPM to help with the greasy feeling. In the UK there is also a natural product called ecosilk that does the same but I'm not sure what the US equivalent would be

Question for UK soapers - water question

There's good advice on this forum to keep a bar or two from each batch to test over a period of at least a year to see how they fare for DOS, especially if you plan to sell in the future as then you can be absolutely confident that you have a long lasting product. There's also quite a few good...

New soap maker - Viggie Vegan soap for sensitive soap

I have found that supermarkets are cheaper for RBO than soap making suppliers as is light in colour olive from Aldis or Lidls (although I don't use olive oil). Home Bargains stocks an organic coconut oil too. There is a large Chinese supermarket about 20 miles from me that I hope to check out...

New soap maker - Viggie Vegan soap for sensitive soap

The soy wax I buy in the UK is Eurosoy800 from Livemoor. Nowadays I typically use 8-10% but have gone as high as 28% in the past. As KiwiMoose and GemstonePony say it adds a nice creaminess to the lather and there are several threads on here that you can learn from.

New soap maker - Viggie Vegan soap for sensitive soap

If you use soap making friend as your soap calculator it works out the extra lye you need if using citric acid to save you any brain drain.

Question for UK soapers - water question

That's interesting, are any of your soaps older than three or four months @RyloKen? I'm in Scotland too and originally used tap water but those soaps developed DOS after a few months. Unfortunately soft water can still have metal particles. I haven't had any issues since switching to...

New soap maker - Viggie Vegan soap for sensitive soap

Hello Sal Are you wanting to use sodium gluconate as a chelator? I don't think it is easily available in the UK but if you take a look here: Citric acid, Citrus juice | Soapy Stuff you can try citric acid

Question for UK soapers - water question

    Etsy

@soapmaker have you read the seller handbook on Etsy? It has lots of handy tips on how to use SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and how to arrange your titles and tags to get seen. You can find the handbook by scrolling down to the dark blue section at the bottom of the page.

Veggie or vegan friendly soap ideas

You can use sea water for personal use but not for selling in the UK. There are some good posts about it on here. Here's one: Sea Water for soap.
