soap recipie using sodium AND potassium hydroxide?

I once had a recipe book for cream soaps, but as I never used it, I've given it away. ;) I have never made cream soaps myself, the recipes looked too complicated for me. Afraid I'm a bit lazy when it comes to "too hard". I don't even cook food recipes with too many ingredients in them.

Can I use cow's Milk Butter in soap?

I made soap with ghee a few years ago. It definitely had a "different" smell, but I didn't find it too off putting, and I got used to it, but I haven't made any more. Please don't ask what else I used with it, as I don't remember, and have mislaid my old recipe book. I keep having "clean...

    Soap, Salt & Sugar

Hazel, I used blue liquid dispersion, from Aussie Soap Supplies. The olive oil was a greeny/yellow colour. I've found you can never guarantee the colour you want with CP, so I just enjoy the surprise! :)

    Soap, Salt & Sugar

Three weeks ago I made a 100% olive oil soap with 8% sf. 1000g oil, with 1 level dessertspoon of table salt, and ditto of sugar. I dissolved the salt and sugar in a small amount of the water, heated to make dissolving easier. I added this after mixing the oil and lye. It traced very...

Can soap be made from butter?

I made a butter soap with equal parts of olive oil, coconut oil, and ghee. It did have a slight ghee smell, which others said was not nice, but which I didn't really mind. I didn't add any FOs, so that might make a difference, or perhaps a lesser amount of ghee. Also, if using commercially...

Aarrrrrggghhh Morphing colors & weird texture

That is very artistic looking. What a shame it doesn't feel good. Maybe a few months will sort out the problem.

    Coconut Water?

I used coconut water in place of water, only once. I don't know if it had any positive effect on the soap, but there was no negative effect. The soap was quite hard - just dropped out of the individual moulds next day, but that could have been the oils. 250g olive 150g coconut 50g corn...

How to create an orangy colour in soap

Carrot oil makes a lovely colour. I guess you'd include that as a natural colourant.

Questions About Making Melt & Pour Baby Soap

Lenimae, a soap made for babies should have no additives at all, not even colour or scent. I should think citrus would be especially bad for a baby's tender skin. Actually, soap should not be used for babies under 6 months. I think most baby shower soaps are made to give to the people who...

    Honey in lotions

Thanks retmcp. I've often found conflicting information regarding lotions and soapmaking. I think we all have our own ideas of how things are done, and just because they're different, doesn't mean they're wrong, or they won't work. Glad to know you've found honey a good addition. Thanks again.

    Honey in lotions

Thanks for that. I'll make sure I only make a small amount, and use it within a few days. I'll have to do it, because I'm one of those people who loves to experiment. I don't mind if things don't turn out properly, as I only make them for myself, but sometimes I just HAVE to do it :!:

    What is this?

I guess the only thing to do is get all the stuff together, mix it all up, and see what happens :?
