    Mixing glycerin and Sodium hydroxide?

I am just now seeing your reply and thank you. I have flashbacks to Organic Chemistry every time I want to try something new. FWIW, I incorporated several tutorials and successfully made a 'translucent' soap, LOL. It looked much clearer before I used the dissolved sugar. Don't know why it became...

    Mixing glycerin and Sodium hydroxide?

So, having made liquid soap using the glycerin method (replacing the water with glycerin) using KOH, I have been wondering what would happen if one were to attempt to make a hard bar of soap using glycerin instead of water? I have been researching how to make my own M&P base and there are...

    Glycerin Method question...

I find it immediately makes my skin feel tight...but wow does it lather (I actually used 95% coconut oil and 5% castor). I really appreciate your taking the time to reply. I enjoy reading your anecdotes and thoughts here on the forum. Very informative!

    Glycerin Method question...

Thanks so much for your reply. Interesting that you seem to have noticed a difference in your 2 soaps. I don't know if I will ever make a LS without glycerin simply bc the method, to me, is so easy and successful! There is the added cost of glycerin vs water, but I don't make to sell-I just make...

    Glycerin Method question...

Firstly, thank you to all who come here and guide others. I have asked and learned so much from y'all. I was able to quickly and correctly make liquid soap (after extensive reading here)...each and every time I have tried!! Probably five or six times now without complication or confusion, so...

My soap isn't ruined- but why?

    BTW, the soap is gorgeous!

My soap isn't ruined- but why?

also, doesn't the superfat help mitigate some of that? Since the Castor oil was only 5% (and not a butter or oil that would have taken up say 35%).

    Mango Butter CP Soap questions

Ok, the last 3 times I have made CP soap, I used varying % of mango butter. I use it like I use Shea in any other recipe. The first time, I noticed a big lye crust in my lye water container after the fact, so I knew the soap would be soft bc of it. Interestingly, this soap went through gel...

    Confetti rebatch help?

Thank you both! It's my first time having to rebatch. Didn't want all those butters going to waste!

    Confetti rebatch help?

I made a batch of soap last week that doesn't have enough lye in it. The container holding my lye water had the hard crust of lye left over after I poured it. Not sure what was happening, I didn't try to melt the lye and go ahead and add it to my soap mixture. The soap hardened mostly and went...

    Serendipity

I was wanting to use the delicious smelling FO, Lemon Sugar, in a CP soap. I had already made lotion bars with it and love the smell. When I gathered my ingredients, I realized I had no way to color my soap yellow, which I really wanted to do. Well, I’d rather go ahead and make the soap so I...

    Can I rebatch this?

I’ll have to go through my folder to see which recipe, but it was heavy on the solid oils. I used cotton blossom type frag oil from Bulk Apothecary. I’ve used it before w no trouble, so I’m assuming my heavy handed mix technique or a combo of technique and ingredients lead to the acceleration...

    Can I rebatch this?

A recipe I used last week got all fouled up (I’m censoring myself lol, bc y’all seem like a nice bunch!) anyway, I think my mistake was accidentally stick blending my frag oil in bc as soon as I did, it started to VERY quickly clump. I probably also added it too soon? So, I’m left w soap that...

    Coloring your soap

I made a much whiter soap last night. I used refined Shea, coconut, castor and 75% lard. My frag oil was the darkest oil, lol!!

    Coloring your soap

I, in fact, made one last night! I used refined Shea, coconut, castor, and 75% lard! It turned out well and took a minute to trace, so it may be a good recipe to use for practicing coloring soaps

    Coloring your soap

I’m definitely interested in TD as I love a white bar of soap and also the pastels that can be made...seems more “soap like” colors to me, soft and pretty!

    Coloring your soap

Well, they are the small dropper bottles of soap dye/colorant. Amazon has these and most hobby stores sell a few colors. I don’t know what else to call them, but I think I’m going to stick w the mica. As you’ve said and I’ve come to realize, seems like most prefer the mica...

    Coloring your soap

Hello all! So far, I’ve only tried the glycerin color drops (blue) and not too happy with the results ( mostly bc my bars are more yellow than white, so nothing really turns out blue). I got some mica samples today, many different colors. Which coloring type, of the two, do you guys prefer?

    Beeswax

Thanks for this info. SKS bottle sounds very familiar. I’ve purchased EO’s and all things that go with natural perfume making in the past, so I’ve used a few different companies. Shipping cost is a pain sometimes but not as bad as when I purchase my aquarium fish online, lol!!
