Pine tar - pre or post-cook. HP

So I’ve been wanting to make some pine tar soap for a while and finally ordered a can of the stuff. 97% of what I do is hot process. It seems like most people add the pine tar in initially with the oils but most people also CP. Is there anything in pine tar that reacts with the lye monster...

    Cat Soap

No, not soap to wash your cat. This has a cat in the soap :) Literally cut this about 1 minute ago so the darker color in the middle is because it’s still quite warm. This is hot process with a cat embed I made. This fragrance oil is supposed to go medium brown. Curious to see how it ends up.

    Bay Rum Craziness

So one of my favorite scents of soap before I started making was bay rum. The first bay rum fragrance I had purchased though, I didn’t like much and it turned me off for a while. Then I bought another small bottle of bay rum from a different supplier and I really liked it. The first one I bought...

Looking for some less floral rain/water scents WSP

Hey all. I got a whiff of "First Rain" from WSP and I really really like it. I currently don't have any water/rain scents. I would like to pick up a few but trying to avoid the ones that are really strong in the floral department. Anyone have any suggestions? Probably going to be making an order...

Is it possible to do embeds in hot process and have them stick properly? Maybe some solvent would help? Tried to do some searching around and haven't come up with much.

Does someone know the percentages that one might use when making a recipe with the ingredients pictured? Otherwise, is there...

    Deodorized Lard?

Has anyone tried a "deodorized lard"? I've been looking around for something to ensure no piggy smell without rendering fresh stuff myself. When you search the internet for it this product pops up everywhere. Seems like a pretty decent deal $/lb (cheaper on other sites) but I'm hesitant to...

Problem? with no paste liquid soap

Hey. I am trying to make a no paste liquid soap recipe out of Jackie Thompson's Liquid Soapmaking book. You add glycerin to the lye water and potassium carbonate to dilution water. And you dilute it at trace. I actually tried it once yesterday and it boiled over because I wasn't paying...

    Freeze-Dry soap?

Hello all, I'm just getting started on my soapmaking journey. I've been reading and reading. I feel like I'm at the point where I know just enough to be dangerous. Planning to try my first HP batch this weekend. I read a comment about freeze-drying and it got me thinking a little (even though I...
