How to get rid of squeaky clean feeling in soap

The ingredient lists did not mention any cheating agents, unless they were not included on the list.

How to get rid of squeaky clean feeling in soap

Even though making handmade soap is fun, with where I am at, I’d rather be using commercial soaps. My next shot is to use goat’s milk in lieu of water and cut down the coconut oil because that recipe was normal for me.

How to get rid of squeaky clean feeling in soap

Unfortunately, my water is hard. I have tried two other soaps made by others that did not give me that feeling even with the hard water. The business owners don’t give their recipes so I have no idea what amounts of ingredients they are using. I felt dry when the coconut oil was 20%,the palm...

Thank you. I will drop the coconut oil further in my next recipes.

How to get rid of squeaky clean feeling in soap

I have noticed that a lot of handmade soap recipes have that “squeaky clean” feeling, which I do not like. Can anyone advise on how to get rid of that feeling? One site said that olive oil gives that feeling, but I have soaps with olive oil and other ingredients that did not cause the squeaky...

    What happened with my soap?

Thanks. I will try that. What do you use instead of a stick blender?

Using dried herbs: good or bad

Thanks for responding everyone. Because of the complications with the herbs, I just never thought them to be a good idea to use in soap. But before today, I had yet to see anyone mention those herbs get on the floor and sticking to the skin. I would think that would be a turn off for customers...

    What happened with my soap?

Thanks. I’ll try this or lower. I’m not a fan of gel phase so I would rather my soap not do that.

Using dried herbs: good or bad

I think dried herbs and flowers look lovely in soap, and the loofa pieces for exfoliation is a good idea, but isn’t there a concern about cleaning the herbs out of the sink and shower? Can’t they clog or block drains?

    What happened with my soap?

I see the partial gel, but there are three different shades of color. I always assumed partial to be two shades.

    What happened with my soap?

I am also using a stick blender. It was an amazon.com bestseller. That’s good to know the bubbles are normal because I do not remember them the first two times I made soap

    What happened with my soap?

That’s good to know that the alcohol doesn’t work for others. I’ll probably stop wasting my time using it and will clean the soap off with water, which I hear works.

    What happened with my soap?

Hi. Has anyone had this happen with soap before? Please see the attached picture. There was some soda ash on top even though I sprayed twice wth alcohol. The top part is white and in the middle, the color is a lighter circle. Here is my recipe: 10% Shea butter 20% coconut oil 30% olive oil (a...

A picture of ricing, volcanos, separating, overheating

Thanks but I was using the cold process method with a design on top. Breaking up the top ruins the design. I don’t care for gel phase so I will not be insulating my own soaps. In this case, the mold was covered when the crack happened so there was some sort of insulation going on.

Thanks, Jeannie. I’ll be mindful of the temperature when making my own batches.

A picture of ricing, volcanos, separating, overheating

What causes cracking and ricing? How can it be prevented? I took a soap making class, and one of my soaps cracked. The teacher had us use the hot lye to melt the oils and butters saying that it is not necessary to melt the butter before hand.
