Optiphen vs Phenonip in milk lotion

I appreciate that insight. I’ve used phenonip from the beginning and I’ve had no problem. I absolutely love my lotion and I’ve had bottles as old as three months that I’m still using in clear bottles. I see nothing but pure white and the smell is the same as when I first made it. I really do...

Optiphen vs Phenonip in milk lotion

I've been searching, to no avail, for past discussions on lotion preservatives but have not found what I'm looking for. (Doesn't mean it's not here! Ha!) I use phenonip in my sheep milk's lotion but am wondering about Optiphen. What are your opinions? Is one better than the other? Why do you...

HELP!! I put on too much water!! Hot process...

UGH!!! Through a comedy of errors due to an unexpected distraction I put in 3 more ounces of distilled water than called for. It’s all in the crock pot right now. Is there anything I can do to save this batch of soap?? Or does it just get to cure for an inordinate amount of time??

    Are soap names regulated?

I've made a lovely batch of soap with peppermint, lavender, and lemon essential oils added. This mixture of oils works wonders for my seasonal allergies. I know that essential oils cannot be advertised to help or cure anything, but is there anything saying I cannot name my soap "Allergy Relief...

    HELP! Greasy sheep's milk lotion!

I tried making my first batch of lotion last night. I love the feel and texture as is comes out of the bottle and onto my hands. I love my hands, too.... like 10 minutes later! At first, for about 10 minutes or so, it leaves my hands very greasy with super shiny fingernails. =( Here's the...

Is this a good recipe for a beginner?

Is this a good recipe for a beginner? I am planning on using a hot process. This is not my first batch, but I am new to this. I've been reading and researching for weeks. I'm looking for a bar that is fairly hard, nice lather, conditioning, and cleansing. Possibly a good bar for the face. I...

Difficulty getting recipe to fill mold...

Ohhhhh..... Well, that would be why I have a batch of really short soap, huh?!? Ha ha ha!!! As far as the amount of water, coffee in this instance, I was using a recipe I found online. And that is why they say to put every recipe into a lye calculator to double check it before you use it...

Difficulty getting recipe to fill mold...

Bare with me, I'm new at this. Never even posted on a thread of any kind before... I have a soap mold with the dimensions of 16.25 x 3.5 x 2.5. (volume is 142.1875, times 0.4 = 56.875, which is the surface area of the bottom of the mold) Maybe I have misunderstood, but I thought that meant that...
