Hole and liquid soap inside, ask for help

Maybe the soap overheated? I have found small pockets of soap or fragrance oil but never one big hole this way.

URGENT - please help! Bad lye???

I haven't posted in a while but I never stop lurking!!! I buy my lye from The Lye Guy. I've never had any issues before now (been buying from him for years now). I just made a 2ND master batch of 50/50 that is ruined (I think anyway). I made a batch a few days ago, everything seemed fine...

    EcoSoya Advanced Soy Wax tarts?

I use the EB Advanced for my tarts and have had nothing but raves about how easily removeable they are :D

How to make tingly CP peppermint soap a la Dr. Bronner's?

Peppermint EO is enough to make my soap tingle 'just right' - gotta be careful around 'mucus membranes' lol

    sweet bubble soap cafe

This shop is opening about 25 miles from me - EEEP! Its like a soapers dream come true!!! Very inspiring! I never really wanted a retail space but gosh, if I ever change my mind, I hope I'll have the funds and time/expertise to compete with such a lovely shop. They definitely have their...

    Mechanic soap

I am not using 'extra' - just the normal amount (anywhere from .5-1oz ppo). EOs don't saponify so the benefits would still be 'intact'. But the degreasing in my soap comes from the coconut oil and lower super fat (I normally do a coconut/shea soap with a 15-20% SF). Also, the poppy seeds...

    Mechanic soap

I do a 100% coconut oil soap with a 10% SF, poppy seeds, Sweet Orange x10, Spearmint, Litsea Cubeba EOs. And color it with carrot puree. Its so ridiculously efficient at degreasing and smells so good!

    Adding honey

I like weeping honey spots in my soap  It looks neat and honey is actually really good at being a cleanser for the skin. Soooo that means I add mine to the batter after thinning it a smidge in a portion of the water. This ensures me weeping honey pockets lol.

Making bulk lye for multiple batches

Your solution is 1/2 lye and 1/2 water. You look at your lye requirements and multiply that by 2 (to get 100% of your lye requirement but since more water is needed than lye, you will need to find out how much more to add) and that is how much total solution to measure out. Then you subtract...

Making bulk lye for multiple batches

IrishLass is my sparkly soap hero :D I've been using the method she posted for over a year now and its WONDERFUL!!! In fact, I have TWO 'Downy' softener bottles (Costco size) that I fill up on a somewhat weekly basis. Makes soaping lovely, a little less stressful, and casual.

ATTN SHOPPERS! If you will look where the blue light...

Its only 10.5 cents/oz at Costco if you have those ;)

    Palm Oil Question

this is one of the biggest reasons I stopped using palm...and then found a whole bunch of other good reasons not to as well lol. I definitely had this issue...top half of the bucket gave me softer soap and batches got harder and harder as I reached the bottom. Obviously, this is not ok...

    Do you bevel your edges?

I hate visiting soapequipment.com - it makes me dream too big  I always make this HUGE mental wishlist of which I may never be able to afford lol. I use the forcraftssake beveler and unless there is a piece of stray soap, never have a problem with the surface of the soap getting...

I did it! Made My first real Castille soaps!

Really? Cause I have to wait DAYS and a freezer to unmold my high olive oil soaps...and even after I unmold them, I have to wait a little longer to cut. They don't get rock hard for at least 12 weeks...now coconut soap is another story. If I do a 100% CO, I have to unmold and cut within 12...

Do you always use coconut oil in your soaps??

I do try to incorporate it in all of my products but my store is named 'the Coconut Crush' because I think coconuts are magical  I also don't love castile AT ALL...the slime factor icks me out big time so even my 'gentle' formula has a wee bit of coconut in it. None of my soaps dry ME...

    Carrot in Fishermen's soap??

Oh super! Adding it now - it smells so good! I put Litsea Cubeba, Sweet Orange x 10, and Spearmint EOs along with some poppyseeds and the carrot. The color RAWKS and totally matches the smellies

    Carrot in Fishermen's soap??

Not the anise variety, but the 100% CO soap...I make a soap I call Grease Monkey for mechanics but thought I'd add some carrot puree for color. Will this ruin the cleansing properties at all? I still want to be able to market it as 'lathering in salt water' but worried the carrot will do...

Ok I'm GETTING a "Tank" but.....

If I were going to buy another, I'd just ante up and buy the most expensive model. I have the hobby cutter, made 1/2 from cabinet wood and 1/2 the aluminum. It bothers me that I can only cut 12" loaves (even though, for now, my molds are only 8" but it has stopped me from buying or making new...

    Coconut milk soap tips?

I just add all of my milk at trace - it works so well when the freezer method is usually 80% fail for me lol.
