    Using Two Preservatives

Any experience combining phenonip with LGP in batches? They have different ingredients and from what I've reading Phenonip is a really good option. Since I learned it was a condensation issue and corrected it I haven't had any issues but would like the peace of mind.

Colloidal Oatmeal and Kelp Powder in Oil Based Body Butter

I use a Optiphen in my body butters because I often use them while in the shower on moist skin. I often see kelp powder used in face masks and scrubs and colloidal oatmeal used in lotions (water phase). Not sure if there was a reason as in it won't mix well with an anhydrous products and...

Colloidal Oatmeal and Kelp Powder in Oil Based Body Butter

Has anyone ever included colloidal oatmeal in an oil based body butter? I'm thinking about doing something geared towards emollient therapy and those with dry, itchy skin. Was wondering if anyone has tried this and what their experience was? I have a very powdery colloidal oatmeal as well as...

    Using Two Preservatives

It's definitely the condensation. I was reading somewhere that in order to prevent this, I can open the jar, wipe the condensation off, close it and then give it a nice shake.

    Using Two Preservatives

Does anyone use both Liquid germ all plus and optiphen in their lotion? I'm thinking about including both into my lotion recipes going forward. I've found my lotions with liquid germ all plus 2 of my jars developed mold at the very top. I know it's condensation related but was wondering if two...

    Creating a Lotion Base

Thank you. I will add 1% more of something to keep it at 98%.

    Creating a Lotion Base

I tried searching masterbatching lotion but didn't see anything on the forum related to it. I did see something about lotion bars... I'll have to tell her to heat to about 45-50C if she does decide to warm it. It makes distributing the scent easier. But she could also just add a few drops of EO...

    Creating a Lotion Base

Hey Everyone, My friend asked if I could create a lotion base for her. I was thinking about creating a base formula that's about 97% total so that she can add her own fragrance to it. I usually keep my fragrances to no more than 2% but I was wondering if there would be any imbalances in...

    Storing lotions in fridge

I tried to search for the answer to this one but I guess no one posted on it (or it's an obvious answer?. Would it be okay to store my lotions in the fridge?

Allergic Reaction To Bleach and Rubbing Alcohol.

Hey everyone! Quick update, It was the latex gloves and the powder in it. lol I figured it out by slowly removing potential causes one by one and what I found was when I chucked the gloves, all symptoms including the shortness of breath and wheezing went away. Then i started reintroducing the...

Allergic Reaction To Bleach and Rubbing Alcohol.

Thanks Salted Fig! I'll do that then. It would give me a lot more peace of mind than borderline making chloroform in my kitchen. lol Lenarenee and lsg, I saw this one when looking on walmart. Do i just apply some and wipe it off for and keep going? That seems easy enough...I need to read into...

Allergic Reaction To Bleach and Rubbing Alcohol.

I haven't been disinfecting my bottles but for cleaning my equipment (pyrex jugs, spoons, scale, cups), I guess I can try OTC hydrogen peroxide? I'll keep wearingg long sleeves and switch to nitrile gloves and see what happens....

Allergic Reaction To Bleach and Rubbing Alcohol.

Honestly, I'm not sure if it's also a latex reaction. It could be? I have been using latex gloves for my lotion making but the reason I left it out was because of the location where the reaction seemed to start. It did make its way to my hands and fingers but was initially around the inner...

Allergic Reaction To Bleach and Rubbing Alcohol.

Sigh...so I had an allergic reaction to one or two...or both of my disinfecting methods. I was initially using a 5% bleach solution and rubbing alcohol. I'd alternate between each method. But for the last week I have been having rashes down my arm as well as asthma like reactions. I took my self...

    Question About Hydrosols

Thanks Cellador. I always use a preservative because I have tendency to use my products, even oil based body butters, in the shower. For this particular lotion I put the hydrolyzed protein (I said hydrosols...sorry, it was late lol) in the cool down phase just to see what the effect would be...

    Question About Hydrosols

Hey Everyone! I've been experimenting with hydrosols in lotions. I was wondering if there's any drawback to using hydrosols in the cool down phase instead of the water phase of my product? Any skin reactions from doing so, etc. I did forget to mention (probably should have called this post...

    Getting Product tested

Thank you. Preservative challenge testing as well as GMP (more preservative testing). Will I have to do the preservative challenge test with every batch I make or is it more of a one and done to ensure I have the right idea?

    Adding Preservative To Body Butter

What happens if I go slightly over the recommended amount for preservative use? For example, I was thinking about making 200g of body butter for my first attempt. I'll be using Optiphen for the oil only body butters at about 1%. Based on my calculation, that means I'll be using about 2 gram of...
