Buttercup mica more elike butterNOT mica

So I used the buttercup yellow mica from Brambleberry and while the orange color threw me off at first, the pretty yellow it turned into was very nice. But it had a problem of ricing and speeding up the batter! I divided my batter into six bowls, all with the same amount of soap, colorant, and...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Rainbow tiger stripe soap. Messed up the top, but I hope it stripes inside!

    Cracking?

My most recent soap has a crack in it! It was soaps at room temperature, went through a mild gel, the top was sprayed with alcohol after the dividers were put in. This crack appeared after about an hour after I made the soap. I've never had my soap crack before with this recipe! What happened...

    Tempera Paint Non toxic

Tempura paint is technically non toxic, but it is not FDA approved for contact with skin. I would suggest against it in anything from face painting to soap design.

    Greeterings!

What would I be? My first ever soap bar, "California Dreaming." Made with avocado oil, smells of oranges, and made to look like the beach. Made with real Pacific ocean water too! I don't have a picture, but I've been meaning to make it again.

    Pride soaps

My series of Pride soaps has been coming along nicely! I'm really proud of how these swirls have been coming out. The colors could be a bit better, the pink in my Transcendent soap and the yellow in my Panoramic Horizon soaps could be stronger. But overall I'm really happy with these! The...

Might be fun, palm free recipe

Oooo, you guys won't like my current one then. 100% coconut oil with 20% SF. It's made my best bars IMO. Long lasting, really clean feeling, my hands feel soft after. And the purity of the colorant. Why does CO have such a bad rep?

Might be fun, palm free recipe

I haven't used this recipe in a while, so I thought it might be fun to get a little feedback and see what people think, what could be added or subtracted, that sort of thing. 19oz (31.1%) Coconut oil 19oz (31.1%) Canola oil 19oz (31.1%) Olive Oil 4oz (6.6%) Castor oil 4 teaspoons of sodium...

    Shapes and sizes.

I sell my soaps at about $4 - $5, though I know I should probably try to sell them for more. $7 seems too much for a soap that I didn't put a high top on. The more work that goes into a soap, the more you should charge. But if the soap is a simple pour; an in the pot or a zebra stripe, I...

    MP and CP weight difference?

I've always wondered this, and could never find a straight answer from my google searches. Melt and pour, and cold process soaps, are made from roughly the same materials. But molds always say something like "Three pounds of melt and pour, and two pounds of cold process." I understand the...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Stamped my soaps, getting them ready for sale later this month. I'm super excited, I have a whole series that I'm working on! Also made a wasabi soap, that's the one in the mold with the pink silicone under it. After four soaps this mold from Michael's has bowed out and now it leaks, I'm...

    Shapes and sizes.

Green soap: 3.5" x 2" x 1" Blue soap: 3" x 2" x 1.5" I think you can click on this to see the full image. Here the soaps are with my stamp on them. The green soap's mold is filled to the very top, I don't think it'll fit any more than it already does. I like both, personally the blue...

    Brine soap question

The first soap I ever made was a brine soap. It really really depends on what your oils are, I've found. I had a coconut heavy soap, and it set up very fast and cured in about half a month. I also had an olive oil heavy soap, and it took a month and a half to cure, but cured VERY VERY hard...

    Shapes and sizes.

I have two different molds, both of them are five pounders. One is a loaf mold, and one is a slab mold. Both get me eighteen bars, about 4-5 ounces each, depending on how high I fill the molds. But both molds give me different shapes. SO! I'm trying to figure out which of these bars is more...

    Greeterings!

Hello there! Name's Serif, I run Muddle Designs. Been making soap off and on for the last two and a half to three years, but now I'm trying to become more serious about it. Started a series just about a week ago, can't wait for it to finish curing so I can sell it at the end of next month...
