    Soaping clean up?

I wipe everything down with a paper towel to get almost all of it off. I then soak my utensils in my lye container. I have the luxury of having my equipment out of the way until I'm ready to wash it up. I did a little video if anyone is interested... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0sK4GxcK-g

    Celestial Colors

Hi Krissy, I'm not the OP but here is the site I have: http://celestialcolors.com/category_5/2 ... orants.php Their main page says something like 'now open for business.' Wasn't the old website Cherry Tree Scents or something like that?

    Cocoa Butter

When I first started, I could find it at Whole Foods/health food stores. Economically, it's much better to order it from an online supplier. I LOVE the wafers from Mountain Rose Herbs. It's a little bit more expensive but so easy to use. No chipping away at cocoa butter for hours. :p Or...

perfect numbers for the perfect soap?

From the research that I've read, a high iodine number seems to contribute to DOS. I keep my iodine under 70 and haven't had any troubles. But other things contribute to DOS as well. However, if you put a 100% olive oil soap in SoapCalc, there that number goes to 85. So it's just tricky if you...

    Using micas

I typically mix my micas with oil and add after the soap is emulsified. But there are many acceptable ways of incorporating micas. I second that you double-check that the micas are cp stable.

perfect numbers for the perfect soap?

I agree that we all kind of have the numbers we shoot for, especially after lots of trail and error. But I'd say look at what they recommend your range to be and shoot for that. The only things I'd really keep in mind if it were me is to keep the cleansing down and your iodine down. From...

    Celestial Colors

I have used some of them and have had good luck for the most part. I know other people that use them as their primary colorants. However, I had one fade on me really bad. The soap was a beautiful bright pink and it faded out to a pale pink. But it was quite obvious because some areas were still...

    Where to buy lye?

I pick mine up at Lowe's. They quit carrying it for a while so I had to go to Tractor Supply but Lowe's has started carrying it again.
