Why did my soap make my skin dry?

Carebear nailed it on the head! Too many people have unrealistic expectations from a bar of soap. Most people don't know whats soap is, and what it's purpose is. Moisturizer and soap are literal opposites... one is putting oil on your skin, the other is taking oils off. If your soap is...

Will CP soap melt under Asia countries?

Good question! Is it humid there? I come from Syria originally- and the temperatures reach up to 40 Celsius. People here have had soap making in their heritage for hundreds of years... however, our heat is desert heat - very, very dry. Moisture is the soap killer, not (necessarily) heat...

    Gel or not to Gel

Good question! Sometimes (with bigger slab/block batches) its almost impossible to prevent gel. Sticking it in the freezer helps, but for the large blocks - i always promote gel. The best way to prevent gel is to use individual molds, and if it's a small batch - stick it in the fridge or...

    Gel or not to Gel

Hi there! Good question - there's been alot of posts on this topic throughout the forum. Generally people are either for, against, or neutral when it comes to gelling vs. not gelling. I've done both - and I'm a fan of gelling. When I use individual molds - my bars never gel, and for an...

    Oatmilk Soap

Hi there! I'm no ''super expert'' - but I can assure you that the most important aspect of designing a non-drying bar of soap, is the ratio of oils/butters in your recipe. Formulating a soap with a good combination of oils, will yield the best bar. If you have a bar with nothing but palm kernel...

    Does this recipe sound creamy?

it sounds like a lovely bar! I love creamy bars - and this recipe certainly sounds creamy. The only thing I would be worried about is the drag on the bar - usually the more butters there are, the less slick it is. Nonetheless, enjoy the creaminess - and let us know how it turns out!

    EO lose of aroma?

lol your totally right! rancid soap is like your car breaking down - totally ruins the day

    EO lose of aroma?

thats true - its not particularly prone to rancidity - but nonetheless, ROE would help for a few reasons... first, because the smell of a soap that goes rancid generally smells muggy and will overpower the subtle notes of a multi-layered EO like lavender. Countering that by using shelf stable...

    EO lose of aroma?

lavender eo Hi there! For essential oils, the issue of fading over time is inevitable. How long that time actually is - will vary for people. Using an antioxidant like Rosemary Oleoresin will help, as will fixatives such as 'solid floating objects'... including but not limited to, Oatmeal...

100% coconut, 20% sf, quick melting!

Melts fast Hi there! Yes, your absolutely right - it melts like butter! Unfortunately, it's the nature of the beast. You'll always notice with any single oil soap - that there's a huge advantage - and a huge disadvantage, that keeps the bar from being 'well rounded'. With 100% olive oil - it...

Hi there! I have a question for all you 100% coconut oil 15-20% superfatters! What happens if you add dried herbs into the mix as an exfoliant, does the excess superfat tend to cause herb spoilage? I look forward to your answers, love & lather <3
