Oh dear. It set up in the fridge, so I unmolded. Seems the honey settled to the bottom. I decided to cut, because I'm already thinking it needs to be re-batched. Before I do that, is that wise at this point or am I off base? Also what caused that? It did not happen when I use the recipe HP.

The bars I made are curing, but I decided to try them out, nice lather and not too drying. **note: not in my original recipe, I added 2T warmed honey mixed with 6T of water. On to my next question, I tried out the same recipe for CP. At trace, the color was creamy and light. When I added...

Coconut milk for HP- how much and when do you add it??

I made a batch last week with mostly CM and it turned out great! I used just over 1:1 water/frozen CM to lye. I added the rest of my CM (warmed) right after I started mixing the lye mix to the oils. It's kinda tan color, but I'm fine with that. Good luck!

Should Coconut Milk look like this from the can ??

I used coconut milk recently in a recipe and it turned out fine. I just heated it in the mic for 2 min, stirring every 30 sec.

Y'all. It worked! I even tossed some heated water with honey at the end. This morning it was very firm. I know there are spots, but this is just for personal use and maybe to share with family. Luckily, we'll be out of town for a few days, so I won't be looking at it longingly.

That is interesting. I do have aloe juice somewhere. Also, do you mean Silk like the milk-substitute? If so, which one. Care to share?

DeeAnn - wow, that article is super educational. Since I'm not able to weigh the CM right now, I hypothesize that it's on the high-fat side and can see how that can seriously increase the superfat and make the soap too soft and thus require a lot of cure time. I would still like to use the CM...

Craig and Susie - I get what you are saying. How exactly do I calculate the fat content of coconut milk? The total fat is listed at 14g and the container is 13.5 fl oz. 6 oz is a lot, I was so wrapped up in making sure the majority of my liquid was milk instead of water and then trying to...

DeeAnna, how can I tell what will affect the superfat?

I'm planning to make a HP soap that is primarily coconut oil, with some olive oil and coconut milk. I read an interesting blog about increasing superfat with coconut oil to result in less of a drying effect, but I'm curious to know--will using coconut milk have the same result as well? I've...
