    Heating pad for cpop?

You can use a heating pad, but be careful not to overheat . I wrap my soap with a towel and set it on the pad on low setting. Temps vary on pads and some also have automatic shut off.

Did I ruin my syndet bars?????

Thanks for your reply Judy. I don't sell any products; what I make is for personal use only so that is not a factor. I believe you are correct about the Phenonip being able to withstand highter temps. Swift craft monkey has some great comparison charts and I'm sure she has one on...

Did I ruin my syndet bars?????

I've made a few batches of syndet bars and after tweaking it with each batch, think I finally got the recipe that's perfect for my hair. After the fact, it occurred to me that I used Germaben II instead of Optiphen as my preservative and I am wondering if this is a bigggggg problem. Comments...

    ? About curing

I give my soaps a 2 month cure before giving them away. I only make soaps for my immediate family and a few select friends so it can easily be on the curing racks for a long time before getting used. I have found soap that I was not really impressed with after a 2 month cure is fantastic after...

Try Costal Scents. I remember making a mental note that they have a forum with lots of helpful info on making cosmetics in the event I decide to branch out into that area.

    What type of Olive Oil?

Alot of people use the OO from Costco without any ill affects; I purchase mine at Sam's - it is golden in color but am able to achieve very white soap using it. Fragrance oils can most definitely affect the color. Will be trial by error or extensive research/reading to find the ones that...

    Casey Anthony Trial

JackiK - I too am sorry for your loss. I also lost a child (my only son; killed in a car accident when he was 20) and I do not care what anyone says......Casey Anthony's actions are NOT the actions of a grieving mother. I have met/talked to many, many mothers & fathers that have gone through...

Distilled Water- How long is it good for...

I've kept it for months in the fridge but if you are concerned, you could measure out a few ounces and freeze it in individual containers or even ice cube trays.

Making Liquid Soap -- video tutorials on YouTube

Thanks for the video! I have read, read & read the process of liquid soapmaking but it has been so intimidating. Your video makes it seem not so intimidating and I am definitely going to try it. Thank you Amy.

    Liquid or powder sodium lactate?

Re: howd that work? I have found adding 1 Tbl per pound oils in HP makes a big difference in making it more pourable. I use the liquid form. It is not expensive but as all ingredients, shop around, the price can vary. Many suppliers have it for less than $5.00 for a 16 oz container. I...

    cold pour oven process

Nope as far a cure time. The advantage is it just ensures you get a full gel as opposed to a partial gel (which is not pretty)

    The scent game

Funny pgnlady! I also run into that same dilemna & can't decide which scent to use. Even if I have a scent selected, I may decide while I'm in the process of SBing a batch that I want to use a different scent. Wish I would quit doing that! But, sooooo true. A scent may not smelll so good...

    Cleaning up after soap making

I clean up immediately after soaping. Someone on this forum (sorry...can't remember who suggested this or I would give that poster credit) suggested wiping everything down with rags & then hanging the rags in the garage to dry. Once they are dry, they no longer have the caustic soap batter...

What's the deal with beer soap?

I've read so much on this forum about beer soap but can't recall reading anthing about exactly what properties it imparts to the soap. Does it produce positive qualities or is it just "manly" sounding? :? And, does the scent come through?

FO’s color my soap..will EO’s do the same?

Jerry, I've used Peak's pomegranite and had very good results with no discoloration so I'm wondering why that would discolor on you. Also used a Clean Cotton (from Elements B&B) with no problems. I think the cranberry apple marmalade has some vanilla in it (double check the description on...
