I found that this is not accurate for palm shortening. I spoke too soon. I made this statment based upon what I had read about canned shortening. Having received my no-stir, which I was not expecting to be so solid at room temperature, I see that I was wrong about this. I want to apologize...

I should be making soap, but I'm riveted to the D.C. circus.

So I did something crazy yesterday..

No, don't flatter yourself, I was not referring to you. So then, why did you think that I was referring to you? Now you're making be look back to see why you would think that. I don't pay attention to names much. I just call it as I see it as I go along.

So I did something crazy yesterday..

Just ignore the insensitive, confused, aesthetics challenged, mycophobic critic. I'm also eager to see your soap cut. I always enjoy seeing imaginative new ways to represent a theme. The surprise is part of the appeal.

need a suggestion for selling soaps .

I don't see where this helps him "launch new soap brand". Soap recipes in general are easy to find and develop. Unless there's something really outstanding and unique about your recipes that cannot be inferred from the ingredient list and he want to buy them, maybe he does not have a clue...

I love seeing references to the World Trade Center implosion. There never was a proper investigation. My oldest son was in the WTC when the plane hit. The cables of the elevator he was in were severed, and it got caught between floors. He and others in the car got the doors open and carved...

Can Sodium Lactate be added to CP soap at light trace?

As long as it mixed thoroughly, it makes no difference whatsoever.

Can glycerin be used after it's use by date?

Glycerin is very stable. It would have to be really old before I would give it a second thought. I ran into the following, which I thought was interesting: GLYCERINE is the most commonly used commercial name in the United States for products whose principal component is glycerol, but it is...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Thas That is such an overwhelming amount of stress to have at one time that I can't hardly wrap my head around it. You have remarkable coping skills. Hang in there, this too shall pass.

What's the deal with expectations in soaping

Actually, I'm not. We're talking about two different sources of heat. In addition, I don't think that I like your tone. I'm frankly tired of your picayune responses. Seems like trolling to me. Yes, in this case, the addition of heat is from the hot lye. Others understood the reference, too...

What's the deal with expectations in soaping

Yeah, me too. I think that we all know that it does not have to be heated to react. What do you think melts the ice? Saponification ("making soap") is a time/temperature reaction, the temperature of both the oils and the lye will make a difference in how long it takes to emulsify and reach trace.

What's the deal with expectations in soaping

He did not say that he heated the lye, he said that the lye became heated when made it. Perhaps you make your lye ahead of time, so it's at room temperature when you use it.

What's the deal with expectations in soaping

Just for the record, and to avoid confusing the newbies, sodium hydroxide goes into solution with water, albeit with a great deal of enthusiasm, but there is no actual reaction between them. The water does not participate in the saponification reaction, but merely serves as a vehicle to bring...
