    Rebatched soap possibly gone wrong

I used a few ounces more than usual, because the soap was 6 months old, usually all the excess would boil off though.

    Rebatched soap possibly gone wrong

Hey everyone, i am in a conundrum. Today i tried to rebatch soap that didnt take a fragrance oil very well, so i dissolved it in water (enough to cover the top of the shredded soap) and let it sit until it coagulated to a very very thick slime, then i put it in a pot to heat up on mid-low. After...

    Lard Substitute?

Just an update: I tried HP soap for the first time with (unfortunately besides the point of this thread) 40% lard, 20% shea, 20% cocoa, and 20% coconut with oolong tea (which turns red when added with lye?) at 5% superfat. It turned out magnificent, probably my favorite soap I've ever made...

    Deoderant and chemical burns

Hey lads, Ive been looking for an aluminum free deoderant all over amazon and at the grocery. Unfortunately, most reviews plus my own experience shows that a lot of them (even all natural/sensitive ones) cause chemical burns. Will homemade deoderant do the same thing? (sorry for my ignorance...

Soap petals/leaves - need creative ideas

Personally I wouldnt put actual petals/leaves IN the soap, but i think it would be nice as a sort of garnish. Ive had bad experiences with leaves in soap and they become really dry and annoying to wash off. I think soap flowers would work just fine though, or really tiny flowers in a gelatin...

    Lard Substitute?

...Ive actually never thought of putting lard in the freezer, lol. great idea! Pretty sure lanolin is a wax though! Is palm oil terribly expensive? I might get a gallon off amazon and try it. Would lanolin/palm oil work well with coconut oil?

    Lard Substitute?

Hello, I've been making soap pretty infrequently, and all of my bars have a LOT of lard in them (at least 45%). I personally love lard as its the most moisturizing oil i can easily access, but my issue is that lard doesnt keep very long (a little less than a year) and a lot of people where i...

    Unscented soap smells like... milk?

Granted, my soap hasnt cured yet, not for another 2 weeks. However, ever since I unmolded it, it smells faintly of goat milk! I used goat milk instead of water, but I dont know if the smell will go away. What do I do?

First two soaps and some questions!

I mostly wanted wine for the color and maybe a smell. After I boiled mine it still have a strong cheap vermouth smell, which i think would smell great when diluted with usual soap smell.

First two soaps and some questions!

Hey, brand new to soap. I made my first CP batch on the 2nd, and my second yesterday. Ive been using lard, coconut oil, and I used 20% olive oil for my second batch. The first one i made was with goat milk that I scorched (unsurprisingly), and the second was with a coffee base, which worked...
