    Other organic colorants

What color does the pomegranate give? Is it red? And what state is it in when you use it? How do you use it? I’d love to have another variety of red :)

    Other organic colorants

Jo Haslauer has an e-book that explains how she gets a rainbow of lovely colors using natural colorants. I still haven’t mastered all of them, but it’s been helpful in my quest. Here’s a link to where you can purchase, if interested... Natural Soap Color eBook by Jo Haslauer

    Kaolin Clay Recipe Help!

I use kaolin as a fragrance fixative as well. In my experience it does seem to help with lighter scents like grapefruit.

An idea for a new natural blue?

Blue is certainly a hard one! It would be interesting to see if this plant worked at all, and if it did if the color range is different than what I get from indigo.

An idea for a new natural blue?

@szaza Yes, I was thinking the same. But it’s worth doing the experiment!

An idea for a new natural blue?

Thanks for sharing! I’m just getting the hang of using indigo. Wonder if this would stay blue in soap...the berries are supposedly edible, making it safe :)

SMF April 2020 Challenge Entry Thread - Strainer Pour/Pull Through Technique

Here is my entry. I made it using a paper plate holder I had kicking around. The pour was a column pour because I was concerned there would not be enough movement through to make the side bars interesting. The colors I used were rose clay, charcoal and chlorophyll, left some natural. The...

The best thing my daughter found, in addition to figuring out food triggers (corn, which is in everything and not listed anywhere as an allergen!!!), was the evanhealy line. Very clean products, like I would make myself. We started down a road of eliminating chemicals because of the infertility...

Rose Clay versus French Pink Clay

i was wondering if anyone could tell me the difference between these two clays. Some places I see them used interchangeably, but I find they are distinctly different. My supplier for the rose clay was out for months and it was replaced by the French pink clay, which, at least for this current...

How do Dr Bronner's & Vermont Soap preserve their liquid castile soaps?

I have made a liquid olive oil soap and had it create a film of something on the bottom of the jar over time - a long time, like a year. Not sure what it was exactly, but I stopped giving it away or selling it for that reason. Haven’t found that with my coconut oil soap, but I tend to leave it...

    scents all gone

I suppose it’s a personal preference. As it is, with the small amount that I use, some are too strong for me, but others love them. They still have scent after two years, which works for me.
