    First Soap Smells Weird

The soap might be interacting poorly with the metal in the soap tray then. You could try removing the outside of that soap bar with a potato peeler and switching to a non-metal soap tray.

    Natural Colorants

The clay powders from Brambleberry are nice (Brazilian pink, yellow and purple and French green). I use 1 teaspoon per about 20 ounces of oils, either mixed into the lye water or dissolved in a few tablespoons of oil after the oil is measured for the soap batter, then added to the soap batter at...

Thoughts Wanted on Basic Soap Recipe

Hi all. I'm hoping for input on this recipe as a general basic one for a crowd (with various fragrances/colorants added and, of course, lye and water according to lye calculator). Finding work after 55 :(

I don't know the particulars of your qualifications and insurance needs and such. But for what it's worth, I'd say to just remember employers aren't the only game in town. Just one example, cleaning houses is easy to get into for yourself and you can make $15-$20 an hour. Best wishes to you.

The lids aren't aluminum but I didn't want to mess with the plastic possibly getting melty in direct contact with the hot soap batter. It's probably okay without it, though. Anyway, the lids leaked around the edges and just felt flimsier than I liked so I quit using them.

Using pringles potato chips container as a round mold.

I've just made six batches of various CP soaps in Pringles cans (each batch filled two cans, about an inch from the top). I lined them with freezer paper, rolled up then expanded to fit on the inside (waxy side to touch soap batter, if anyone doesn't know). I also traced the bottom on freezer...

    de-funk de pits

I've been having good luck with Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar in a spritzer bottle. It couldn't be simpler and once it's dry, the vinegar smell leaves.
