I ordered Energy, Salty Mariner (this is a new one for me), Bamboo Mint (also a new one for me...it sounded very nice, I hope I like it) Lemon Verbena, OMH, and Lavender. Oh, and I ordered a couple of colorants I am low on, and Lemongrass EO. Can't wait for them to get here! I am a hobbyist...

Thanks everyone! Cerelife, Here in Florida, we have what is known as basic X ray license. or limited scope x ray....not all states have them. I can work in a doctors office, but not a hospital or imaging center, and can only do x-rays. But the last few years I have not even used my x ray...

    My new soap labels

Thanks everyone! Irishlass, isn't that so true! Work so often gets in the way of the things I'd really like to do, but if I didn't work, I definitely wouldn't have the funds to do those things LOL! I worked on some more last night. Originally I was just going to use the one color label, but then...

    My new soap labels

Thanks Krista! I was going for a vintage type look, but yes I wanted clean easy to read labels. I am very pleased with how they turned out...I think they are the best looking labels I've ever made LOL!

    My new soap labels

Hi Dixie, thanks for the compliment! I used black and tan cardstocks. The black cardstock is cut like a cigar band and goes all the way around the soap, the tan is cut out and layered on top of the black cardstock. I used my xyron sticker maker to adhere the tan label to the black cigar band.

    My new soap labels

Hello all, I have been MIA for quite some time. I don't get to make soap that often anymore because of constraints with a full time job, and 2-3 hour a day commute, I'm just so tired most of the time. Anyway, I don't sell my soap, just gift to family, friends, and occasional coworker...

    Baby Soap??

I am with Ruthie and Mish. I started making soap when my twins were babies. I could not find anything commercial that they could use without getting a rash. When they were babies, it was olive and lard with a little castor oil, shea butter or cocoa butter. Now that they are older (18 now)...

    HP, honey, & flaking

I have always added my honey after the cook, and I have never had honey pockets. I use a whisk to stir it in. I have never had honey give my soap a flakiness.

    Bags & Buckets

I have never ordered any of my base oils from BB before as they are too far away (I am in central FL). I had an acquaintance that wanted me to teach her how to make soap. She ordered her oils from BB, and it came in those bags. What a pain. I gave her some empty lard buckets I had on hand to...

    cost of tallow

I found a butcher once years ago about 30 minutes away. Contacted them about getting some beef fat and suet from them...they agreed to save some for me and I could have it for free. Went to pick it up, and it stunk to the high heavens like it had been sitting out for days and was rotten. I could...

    lye and oils temperatures

I have never done the room temp thing. I like to control my temps...probably just another OCD thing LOL! I keep my temps between 110-120 F It works for me, and I have the philosophy if it isn't broke, don't fix it. :p
