I'm in Florida as well. This summer has been dreadful so far! I ended up not gelling this soap because I was scared it would over heat since I put buttermilk in it. I'm kicking myself for not gelling it. Oh well. Hopefully it won't get too bad or I'll just have to try wiping it off.

Any tips for preventing ash after cutting soap? I have a soap that got ash as it cured, and I just cut a soap that is still pretty soft. I'm pretty sure it's going to ash, but I really don't want it too. It's a black soap =\

I plan on soaping at about 90 for this recipe and I do want it to gel. I do cpop to force gel, so I will keep an eye out just in case. Thanks!

Hey everyone! I want to make a soap using buttermilk powder and I have some questions. I want to add sugar for help with bubbles, but doesn't the milk powder already have a bunch of sugar? I was also reading about how the buttermilk has lactic acid which turns into sodium lactate when it reacts...

Well I ended up doing 2 tsp ppo, next batch I will do 2 tbsp ppo to see if I notice a difference. Added sodium citrate correctly this time. I think this may be my best batch! I feel so accomplished right now! It's supposed to be a pumpkin pie soap.

Thank you for all of the advice! Yes, it was 2 tsp for the sodium lactate. I've made this recipe before without the sodium citrate and sodium lactate in it, but I haven't done just one of them. Guess I'll need to play around and experiment.

I'll have to try lowering it and adding something else. I thought it made more bubbles. I've been trying to make a more bubbly lather for my husband.
