    The eternal struggle of soaping

My temptation is not really tools, but molds. I **love** fancy molds, and have far more of them than I can ever realistically use. Literally. Big plastic totes full. Yet Amazon insists on sending me cute little messages with cute little molds in them. "Buy Now" <---- conditioned response.

    Goats Milk Soap

Fresh is definitely the key. I cannot stomach the stuff they sell in the store. It is filtered to remove any foreign substances. Even though I thoroughly washed and rinsed the udders directly before milking, and although my milking area was scrupulously cleaned, there is still the chance that a...

    Goats Milk Soap

OK. Funny story. My late husband "hated" goat milk. Nothing I could do or say could encourage him to drink it. So I bought him half gallons of whole milk from the store. One day - he was running really low, and I didn't have time to go to the store (half an hour drive each way from the house)...

    Goats Milk Soap

Thank you for your reply, that is exactly how I make my milk soaps. However AliOop was referencing using GM in her Zany's OO soap. I make it with the original recipe - which is made with brine - and was enquiring how she incorporated the milk.

    Goats Milk Soap

Oooh! I would LOVE to do that. Would you share how you added the milk (and how much) to the brine? Or did you just sub the milk for the water in the brine?

Is there a scent that works well with Tea Tree Oil?

One of my best selling bars is Lavender, Tea Tree and Bergamot

    Goats Milk Soap

I used to use only frozen raw goats milk when I had Nubians. Now I can sometimes get it from a friend, but not always. But I *do* have access to some lovely, raw Jersey milk which I use when GM isn't available. I (personally) feel the Jersey milk - because of its higher butterfat content -...

    I have fallen..

I have the Explore Air 2. I use it to make boxes and gift baskets that are unique and help my products "stand out"

    When does it become selling?

Actually, taking **any* "consideration" is considered selling by the IRS and Tax Commision, whether it be in cash or goods. OP needs to check with her State Tax Commission about sales tax also. Another way to approach it is for the BnB owner to provide ALL the ingredients (thus paying the sales...

    Other hobbies.

I am good at following patterns; I can research stuff easily so I have no problem with developing recipes for soap and body products; I can take someone else's idea and run with it. I have made shawls for others that incorporated their ideas and taken a pattern and adapted it to make it more...

    Other hobbies.

These are a few I have made over the years. Not all are lace:

    Other hobbies.

I am kind of scatterbrained. One of my main hobbies (apart from soaping) is I love to knit. I love the beauty of lace so I mostly do lace shawls. I also do quite a bit of 3D papercrafting, some jewelry making (but I am not very creative) and I used to enjoy showing dogs (did that professionally...

    Is this Greed or Business?

Well, many manufacturers make identical (or almost identical) products for several name brands and Box stores. Many years ago my son worked at a company that made several lines of cosmetics. Some very well-known and pricey, some less known and more moderately priced. The only difference was the...

    Post your Gripe

My former friend, who has become a rep for a well known EO MLM, is always trying to sell me her wares. To say she is pushy would be an understatement. She KNOWS I buy my EOs from a reputable source, and she also knows my views on "her" company, but she keeps on sending me messages...

Whereabouts in OK? I am in OKC and could might find you a couple of fragrances if you lived close

    Labeling

You are absolutely correct. I forgot that not everyone has to adhere to the FDA rules. <hangs head> I would urge anyone in the USA to get Marie Gale's book. I found it very useful. My problem with the listing of "saponified oils of" or just the "out of the pot" list (here in the USA) is that the...

The "One Recipe" Theory - Question

I have been making soap for many years. I keep to the same 2 recipes for the soaps I sell. A milk soap with OO, Rice Bran, CO and a couple of fancy things and a very slightly tweaked Castille (thanks, Zany!!) That doesn't mean I don't experiment, but when I do it is tiny batches, in tiny...

    Labeling

This will likely open a can of worms, but it seems to me that the main reason that most of those that like to list "out of the pot" ingredients is that they don't like the idea of listing sodium hydroxide. My thoughts on the matter is that sooner or later you will have to have that chemical...

Anyone know of any good wholesale supplier for essential oils?

I buy my EOs almost exclusively from Camden Grey. They are not the cheapest, but their quality is first class.
