    Gabriels shaving soap recipe

Hello everyone! Today i want to share a recipe, and maybe more later, with you. I have been selling shaving soaps and other products for a year and a half now, and my customers and friends really love my soaps. Do notice that, altough i am a barber and i'm in this classic shaving "stuff"...

Advices in colouring my (shaving) soaps?

Hello there! I tought it would be nice to give you guys a feedback on how it turned out for me. The short answer is; Great! =P Bought some AC alongside titanium dioxide, did two or three test runs figuring out how many AC to add, and in the third or fourth time, i achieved a great solid black...

    My shaving soap

Well... Coconut IS drying to the skin, i mentioned it before, and that's why I advice adding glycerin to it. But i do think that it's not THAT bad for a shaving soap to be a tad drying, since unlike a bath soap, we tend to apply lotions/balms/gels/whatever to our face after shaving, and that...

    Cheater Soap

Regarding the first post, yes, shaving people (like meself) use stearic acid up to 50. Even more, actually, I'm familiar with more than a dozen tried and tested recipes of shaving soap and in one of them i use up to 80% stearic and 20% coconut. In fact i shared this recipe in my introduction...

    Citric acid confusion

Hi Obsidian! Would it be correct if I assume that, in a dual-lyed recipe of 60% Koh and 40% Naoh I would add an extra 4g of the first and 2g of the second if i were to add citric acid?

    My shaving soap

Oh, good! Coconut oil compared to tallow, should give you more volume and easier lather, but less cushion and moisturizing. Of course it depends on the rest of the ingredients, but for shaving legs, since I don't see my wife at least applying anything to her legs after the shower, you did a...

    My shaving soap

In your case it should be a little harder because of the coconut oil and the cocoa, but not by much. You can simply scoop it with a spoon and mold into a tub later with little hassle too, don't worry about it. Let me now how it turns out! =)

    My shaving soap

I always pour the soap directly in the tubs (like the one in my avatar) and leave it without the lid to cool off, as It should not get very hard. I'll leave a picture of some samples I made so you can have a notion.

Too much burn with my aftershave

I have nothing against EO, but in my experience making shaving products, EO is a darn thing and Fragrance oils gave me far less trouble. I too found a awesome EO in the past that i could not blend to my liking because of max dillution and/or light sensitivity. Its a pain...

Advices in colouring my (shaving) soaps?

Thank you, it was a nice quick and very informative answer! Another question; Do i add AC until it reaches the shade of "black/dark grey" i want, or do i have to take in account some sort of discoulouring after the soap is ready?

Advices in colouring my (shaving) soaps?

Hi there! I know there is more than one thread about colouring our soaps, but i have not found one concerning shaving soaps, so i thought it cannot hurt to start one. =) I introduced myself yesterday and mentioned my sadness about only finding this forum now because that is a question i...
