We just used a regular hand mixer. Most of the whipping happens before adding the lye. Whip your hard oils first, incorporating as much air as possible. Then whip in your liquid oils. Then turn the mixer down to a low speed and slowly mix in your lye. You're just aiming for a thorough mix...

You made whipped soap Nizzy style? I would guess incomplete saponification. I suggest waiting longer, 2-3 days at least, more if you're patient. Since you're using individual molds, you don't need to rush to the cutting.

Same here. Depends on the quality of your tap water, I suppose. Hard water might cause problems. Sounds like an experiment waiting for an experimenter...

Or a variation on 3. Let your lye water come down to working temp and add the GM powder to that. Avoids the burning and you can make sure it's completely dissolved. I actually prefer powdered to whole GM for just this reason.
