    Homemade Febreeze!

Sorry, just read "16 oz bottle." I'm guessing 12 oz...

    Homemade Febreeze!

Just to confirm: that's 120 oz of water, not 12 oz. Is that correct? Thanks.

Why is fresh soap so drying?

Interestingly, this is also probably the source of what we call ash, as the carbonic acid will react with sodium to form sodium carbonate and/or sodium bicarbonate.

    Speaking in Soap Tongue

I know, right? But how sweet is that: "I know it's me..."?

    Color Change over Days...

You didn't mess it up. I have experienced that as well, particularly with purples. You take it out of the mold and think "Oh, poop!" Then it turns back to the right color over a couple days. I believe that this is one of the pH dependent colors Carebear referred to.

    What water?

Not in the way you want. Boiling water will kill biological contaminants, which is a good thing for baby formula, but it will just concentrate any chemical contaminants. I use the term "contaminants" broadly, most of the time I wouldn't consider calcium a contaminant in tap water, but if it...

    My lye didnt burn?

This is a case of different people reacting differently to the same stimulus. Some skin is very sensitive to lye, some is less sensitive. I get raw soap on my hands and it just gives me a spot of dry skin, some people have a fast and painful reaction. Know your skin and your comfort level, and...

    where can i find?

That one is online only. Not sure what you have in your area, so not sure where to send you except somewhere that specializes in kitchen/coffee gadgets.

    advice for cp soap

Where are you located? Other locals might be able to point you toward a source. Ace is great when you're starting out (if yours carries lye), but once you get thoroughly addicted you'll want to look for bulk supplies to cut costs.

    Cupcake makers

We just used a regular hand mixer. Most of the whipping happens before adding the lye. Whip your hard oils first, incorporating as much air as possible. Then whip in your liquid oils. Then turn the mixer down to a low speed and slowly mix in your lye. You're just aiming for a thorough mix...

Personally, I am LOVING the pink flamingo top!

    Cupcake makers

My partner and I just started making cupcakes. For the frosting we used a variation on Nizzys whipped soap, and dolloped the whip on top of the cakes in stages. One dollop on each, let it firm up for a couple minutes, add a smaller dollop, let it firm, then an even smaller dollop with as...

    Whipped Soap in Silicone Molds

You made whipped soap Nizzy style? I would guess incomplete saponification. I suggest waiting longer, 2-3 days at least, more if you're patient. Since you're using individual molds, you don't need to rush to the cutting.

Does The Water That Lye Is Mixed Into Need To Be Hot Or Cold

Same here. Depends on the quality of your tap water, I suppose. Hard water might cause problems. Sounds like an experiment waiting for an experimenter...

    question on goats milk soap

Or a variation on 3. Let your lye water come down to working temp and add the GM powder to that. Avoids the burning and you can make sure it's completely dissolved. I actually prefer powdered to whole GM for just this reason.

    Castile Soap

I agree with everything carebear and the rest have said. I would add just one more piece of caution/advice: Please, please, please, after you do your additional reading and research, and after you go run a soapcalc to find the right amount of lye and water for the amount of oil you're...

    Experimenting...this should be interesting!

Wow! That's your first swirl?!? Spectacular! I've been doing both funnel and pot swirls for a while and none of mine turn out that nice. Good thing mine are just for family and friends... Take good notes on your technique, 'cause people are going to be asking you for advice.
