    Discoloration due to FO?

No, they didn’t offer any compensation. Just said thanks for letting us know.

    Discoloration due to FO?

So I sent a message to Rustic Escentuals and asked them to check into their Gingerbread Brulee, and I just got the reply... "Apparently the website was incorrect. There is actually 5% vanillin in that FO. We have pulled the vanillin content from the site for the moment and are working this...

Ok, thank you for the information. I will give them a try as soon as I run out of the stuff I have!

    Discoloration due to FO?

I'm not familiar with BCN... I use Wholesale Supplies Plus VS. I know they have a reputation for not having the most high quality products. I'll have to try adding the VS into the oils before adding the lye.

    Discoloration due to FO?

Would you mind sharing your procedure for adding VS? I’ve tried it in the past with marginal results. I still always seem to get some browning around the edges.

    VS? As in vanilla stabilizer?

    Discoloration due to FO?

Do they change to brown over time or do they change the color while you're mixing your soap?

    Discoloration due to FO?

It's not clear, has a yellow tint to it, but not very dark.

    Discoloration due to FO?

I recently used the Gingerbread Brulee FO from Rustic Escentuals. Had no trouble with it during the soaping process, but after a few days of curing the white has turned to gray and the orange has turned to dark brown. The website states that the vanillin content is 0, but the soap is sure acting...

Looking for a Barber Shop FO that won't accelerate or rice in CP

I will give the Rustic Escentuals FO a try as soon as I run out of the 16oz bottle I bought from WSP. Thanks for the recommendation!

    Anyone good at maths?

If you have a superfat of 6% on 900g of oils, that would be about 54g of unsopanified oils. Add in another 50 grams and that's 104g of unsaponified oils. 104/950 = ~10.95% superfat

    Fragrances order!

I've gotten: Love Spell Black raspberry vanilla Black tie Cool water for men and Oatmeal & honey not Oatmeal milk and honey All are incredible. I haven't noticed any acceleration. Oatmeal & honey discolors like crazy because of the vanilla, but the others do not to my knowledge. I would...

Looking for a Barber Shop FO that won't accelerate or rice in CP

So the way I have been making soap recently is with masterbatched lye (2:1 water:lye) at room temperature, and I let my oil get down to about 100°-110° F before mixing in the lye water. Once it's at super light trace, I add in the Barber Shop and pretty much instantly it starts to harden right...

Looking for a Barber Shop FO that won't accelerate or rice in CP

Hey everyone, I've been using the Barber Shop FO from WSP and I absolutely love the smell of it, but it is horribly difficult to use in CP soap making because it instantly seizes up the soap as soon as it touches it. Usually I'm able to sort of beat the clumps out, but it's not ideal. Does...

    Soaping Material Suppliers

Hey y'all, I put together a Google Spreadsheet with prices from several online and local retailers. I did this for Olive Oil (Pomace and Extra Virgin), Palm Oil, Castor Oil, Coconut Oil and Lye. All shipping is to Houston, TX 77389, so your shipping could be a lot different. Feel free to add to...

    Soaping Material Suppliers

I think the reason WSPs prices are higher is because they offer free shipping on orders over $40. And if you factor in free shipping compared with paying for shipping from Bulk Apothecary or Brambleberry (for example), I've found that WSPs prices are very hard to beat. Does anyone else factor in...

    Soapin' down in Texas

I haven't found any suppliers locally. I buy all my materials from www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com. I think you can buy some oils cheaper at local grocery stores, but as for FO and colorants, online is the best I have found.

How to get the smell out of a laundry bottle

Has anyone tried apple cider vinegar? I've seen that mentioned before

How to get the smell out of a laundry bottle

Any ideas? I've been rinsing this thing for days but it's still so strong and I'm worried the fragrance will leach into my lye water.
