    Soapmaking in Arizona

Welcome! I started this a little over 2 years ago. I don't sell, just have given out a lot to friends and family. I love it, and with leftovers I just donate to a local mission and use the deduction. I'm in Vail if you are in Tucson....and to Deborah it would be nice if we all could meet and...

Speed up drying/curing time of CP soap?

I have to agree with many of the more experienced soapers comments listed throughout this lengthy thread. I've been making soap for 6 months now. I've found using a 2:1 lye to water mixture helps the soap release from the mold quicker. However, it doesn't make it cure any faster. I've tried...

    Discolored Tallow

Thank you all, I am now in my 3rd wash. It's looking whiter. Might have to give it a 4th. And, only used water these other times. In the future I'll leave the salt out as another member mentioned. I believe just washing should continue to take the impurities out. Happy Soaping!!

    I made this soap stamp

Your soaps and stamp look amazing. Question is do you install the software at home to make the design and then take it to where there is a 3-D printer located? Just checked and Tucson has places with these printers.

    Discolored Tallow

Update and water vs not question Well, I went ahead put it in water last night and added a small amt of salt and soda since I'd added salt the first time with the water while rendering it down. Noticed that as soon as I put in the salt it made impurities rise. As it simmered I skimmed off...

    Discolored Tallow

I made some tallow using store bought beef fat last month using a recipe that said to cook it down in water and salt and got a fairly good white looking tallow. Yesterday I found another recipe that just said to cook it in a roaster. Which I did. Today it's discolored. Is there anything I can...

    Cardboard for soap mold

Message Rules Maybe before coming on and continuing to make me feel bad you should go back and see if you can still find it. I would think it would be in the main rules which is what I am linking to below. If it's somewhere else then I need someone to tell me where to find it, but these are...

    Cardboard for soap mold

Because I am a newbie. Didn't go all the way up to see that this was a post from so long ago. Only saw the post from yesterday. And, wanted to ask a question. And, in reading the rules I've yet to find about necroposting. This is not an environment where I want to continue to be a part of...

    Cardboard for soap mold

I've heard one can do this with cutting mats. But, I've wondered how do you get them to stick together without the soap leaking. Is their a good place here or online? I've done a quick search on youtube, but nothing extensive because I had more to learn, bought one good wood mold and made some...
