    Lots of questions, rosin soap

Is rosin the same stuff you use to coat a violin bow? If so I'd love soap with that smell.....it was such a lovely.smell...think I only played for as long as I did to keep coating the bow!!

    SMF June Challenge Peacock Swirls

Oh gosh I'm going to have to remember that...it was such a small amount compared to the main ones.....but literally as soon as I put the eo mix in it wooshed from nice manageable thin batter. I love rose geranium so might have to find a super slow recipe for it one. It was fantastic to have a...

    SMF June Challenge Peacock Swirls

The fragrance was essential oils mixed Fennel 15ml patchouli 5ml with about 1 'll each of rose geranium and litsea cubea. It's a gorgeous smell. I think it must have been the fennel. I ordered it from soap kitchen in the UK so bit sure who the producer is. It's quite pretty inside so i might...

    Coloring Soap

I think seeing this thread has answered a question....my coloured sections solidify slower and in not keen on the texture. It looks like I may be using too much! My lovely blue and yellow swirl is fab but makes distinctly yellow bubbles and the last one I did with dark blue has left a stain on...

    Peacock Swirl Entry Thread

Oh dear....no peacocks here. Everything was going well until I added the fragrance and boom....accelerated trace. Managed to pour the colours but it was gloopy by the last and it overpowered the other colours.

What made you pick your avatar/ username?!

Cobbsie has been my online forum / gaming / online presence name since the early days of online gaming and forums. It was cobwebb right at the start and got shortened very quickly by the people I gamed with and it stuck ever since. I was horrified a year or so ago to find someone else had used...

Does anyone measure your batch in kilograms?

Same.....we use grammes and kg in the UK...though there may be some who still use ounces and pounds. I tend to think in grammes for baking these days and was completely thrown by the amounts in a recipe I followed in ounces. I like the fact that the amount is so easy to convert to percentage of...

    Lavender swirls

This is holding its colour nicely and some of the internal swirls are a lovely deep purple. Shame the too swirls get cut into....it almost makes me think of like to keep it as a slab! It's hardening up and the zap has gone now but on the weekly testing it is low on bubbles and high on goo...

    Lye safety .... again.

It is quite confusing. I an not sure it is always spreading of mis information perhaps just people applying basic chemistry knowledge. I made the assumption from having drilled in at chemistry A level to neutralise first then wash. That would automatically mean thinking about a splash of vinegar...

    Lye safety .... again.

The most terrifying sentence ever! I found a small lye grain on my hand through an intense itch in a tiny spot and washed it off.......turn to soap you say......*shiver*

I love the colours in the potential second one...lovely...and nice swirls in the greeny yellow one :) I was wondering about doing a very flat base to give the maximum swirl on top and cut square.....

    Lavender swirls

The violet has stayed and if anything become a bit sharper contrast with the white. It's taking s long time to harden up but it's getting there. Had

    First multicoloured swirl

I've cut some small slices off and been testing them...they've made a lovely conditioning bar. Best thing I've found about the handmade soaps so far is needing far less hand cream after handwashing...great stuff!
