    Cornstarch?

This may or may not have been asked here: Do you add cornstarch in your bath bombs? If you do, why? If you don't, do you have a specific reason you don't? I heard that it may cause infections, make bath bombs soft, but I also heard it can help dry/harden bath bombs, keep fragrance longer, and...

    Dangers of making bath bombs

I wanted to know in depth of the dangers of making bath bombs. Some possible hazards I noticed were dusts (from citric acid, baking soda, cornstarch, slsa, etc), heat from mixing activated charcoal, and constant smelling of EOs and FOs. Also physically handling a bath bomb without gloves on...

    Kaolin clay

My question is how much kaolin clay should I add to my recipe and does it affect the fizzing at all? I'm talking about a simple 2 cup baking soda and 1 cup citric acid base recipe. I've seen some put 1 tbsp all the way to 4 tbsp and I need maximum hardness without reduced fizzing. Thanks everyone!

How much would you price a bath bomb (or buy)?

It seems that a lot of people here are selling or planning to sell bath bombs. I recently bought a bath bomb online for $7.00 (and $3.25 shipping). There were so many great reviews and the pictures were amazing. When I received it, it was around 2.15" and 5-6oz only! And it colored my water a...

    Bath bomb sizes?

What defines small, medium, large, extra large, gigantic, monster, standard, etc sizes for bath bombs? I generally see 2.75" bath bombs as large, but then there are other shops that classify 2.25" up to 10" bath bombs as large... For you, what defines the standard medium bath bomb and...

    Sticky polysorbate 80

I've had no problem with poly 80 in my bath bombs and using them until recently when I started getting really sticky after each bath. I know that poly 80 makes your skin a bit sticky when touched, but before, I used larger amounts of it and had no problems.I lowered from 1 1/2 tbsp to 4 tsp...

    Share your bath bomb finds!

After a few months of making bath bombs, I have some findings/notes. Packing bath bomb tightly prolongs fizzing but weakens it (if you don't use SLSA). I prefer short but stronger fizz. Red, black iron oxide based, and purple micas stain the most even with poly 80 Use less than 6% liquids in...

    Making bath bombs fizz more?

Hi everyone. I've been making a lot of bath bombs lately and noticed they stopped fizzing so much. People already asked this question here, but none of the responses really worked for me. My liquid content is 5-6% and ratio of dry ingredients (baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch, epsom salt)...

How much polysorbate 80 to use?

I made bath bombs with about a 1:1 rate of poly 80 to my carrier oils and the mica and oils dispersed well in my tub, but I don't have too much of the poly 80 and would like to know if I can lower the amount I'm using. There's never a good ratio or usage percentage found online, so I'd like to...

Bath bombs won't stick in mini mold

Hi everyone. I made bathbombs yesterday and the large (80mm) ones worked amazing. Although I may need to add a bit more mica and fragrance. However, the mini molds, (30mm; around 1 inch) won't stick the 2 bath bombs. I added even more coconut oil, but then it just became a wet mess. Is there...

Wet to dry ratio for bath bombs.

I decided to make my bath bombs on Friday, as the following weeks have really low humidity. I'm just worried about the wet to dry ingredient ratio. Since I don't have any clay with me, I don't know if it will be too soft. My oils are poly 80, avocado oil, coconut oil (refined), sweet almond...

Do you use epsom salts in your bath bombs and is polysorbate 80 safe?

Hi, I want to make bath bombs, but many recipes online don't seem to use epsom salts. Is there a reason? I found some fine grain epsom salts online and debating whether to buy it or not. Does it make your bath bombs better? Also, I'm worried about the usage of poly 80. I want my product to be...

How should I go about packing the bath bombs?

So far, I have 2 ideas. One is wrapping them with something like saran wrap or cling wrap. The other is using small cellophane bags and putting a silica gel packet inside them. I'm planning to give them to friends and maybe even sell them one day. Do you think these are good ideas? Which is...

How fine or course should epsom salt be?

I completely forgot to add this question on my previous thread and I hope I'm not spamming. There are so many types of epsom salt: extra fine, fine, medium, course, very course, etc... and I just don't know at this point. I heard the fine is best, but also many diy recipes online just use...

Best bath bomb colorant and anti-staining techniques?

I'm a newbie maker and I'm struggling to find a good colorant that is not only vibrant but also cost-effective. You know those Lush bath bombs that have a really really vibrant color and great smell and do not stain the tub? I want something like that. Labomb colorants have a lot of good rep but...
