    Fragrance Oil Review Chart Link

I apologize if this has been discussed (I looked back and didn’t see anything), but Nurture has had to rename virtually all of their dupes over the past six months. Some of the reviews I posted feature names that Nurture no longer uses. For example “Avobath” is now called “Awaken”. Thankfully...

Searching for the Ultimate Dark Chocolate FO

While not located on the East Coast, Nurture’s Chocolate Indulgence smells like dark chocolate to me (maybe just a touch vanilla–y but still better than B.B. for me) It behaves well and sticks but discolors like crazy.

    Nurture vs WSP for micas

I also agree that Nurture’s micas are reliable and fully tested in CP soaping. A few WSP colors, notably two from their “oil locking” mica line, really bled and morphed for me.

Tips for White soap on purpose?

I love a truly white bar of soap and a lot of these suggestions will help you get there. The one thing that I occasionally forget to consider is that so many FO’s will discolor, sometimes right away and sometimes during cure. It definitely pays to do your homework in advance...

    Palm Oil

I wish I had read the advice about red palm oil before using a 17oz jar in a batch. Not only did it completely stain my molds, but the resulting soap bled so badly I just threw it all out. Live and learn, I guess!

    Powder Sprayers

Just to follow up on this (Sorry you didn't get more responses), I would avoid using any Mica/TD blends in these sprayers because you'll inevitably have some aerosolization of particles. Today, using a gold mica for a quick pencil line, I noticed quite a cloud of mica in the air for minutes...

    Christmas 2017

I'm behind already! I just tried a batch using Nurture's Winter Wonderland, and wow did it accelerate. I'm trying again with a different FO. Wish me luck ;)

    Beard Balm advice

Thank you all for the comments and suggestions. I have made some changes, but ultimately may just go with @BrewerGeorge's suggestion and buy some base. That's not a bad price at BB considering... I mainly wanted to use the beeswax because I had some on hand. Thank you for this suggestion! I...

    Beard Balm advice

I realized today that I've been spending a small fortune on beard oils and balms, and that I could make them with the ingredients I have on hand for CP soapmaking. I prefer balm to straight oils. But, my first recipe; 2 Tbsp Beeswax 4 Tbsp Apricot Kernel Oil 2 Tbsp Olive Oil 2-3 Drops...

A rambling review of Brambleberry "masculine scents" sampler

As someone who strenuously avoids most scents marketed as "masculine" (because it usually means a musky herbal or chemically ocean top note and not much more) I was glad to read about your experience and the follow up. I may try one or two of these after all. And, isn't Zany the Enabler a...

    Powder Sprayers

I have used the ones that BB is selling and they work well, especially for quick pencil lines. I would just say that you might want to use a plastic drop cloth (or other washable/disposable barrier) as the sprayers can clog and then the mica goes everywhere. It's easy to go a little heavy and...

    Container for Lye?

Restaurants, hospitals and other institutions that cook in volume routinely throw out (or, hopefully, recycle) large heavy duty #5 plastic pails that are wonderful for mixing or masterbatching lye. I found that just asking someone nicely yielded several free containers (with handles and lids!)...

    Fragrance Oil Finder

Just to update this thread, I sent a friendly email and follow-up letter to Lori but never heard back. The domain is now officially for sale through a third party reseller. Oh, well!

    Shelf Life?

Patchouli EO is fantastically shelf stable, and often lasts a decade or more with little drop in potency. If you find that they smell "off" or you just don't want to risk it in a body product, they'd probably still be fine in a household cleaning product.

    Soaping with rice oil

I love rice bran oil, but it does have a relatively short shelf life. I've never used it above 30% personally.

    Fragrance Oil Review Chart Link

Great news. While I believe 99% of users are honest and helpful, you've always got to contend with that 1% who might ruin everything. Glad this resource is being preserved!

    Autumn Fragrances

Every time I check the "Christmas 2017" thread my blood pressure spikes, but I AM ready to think about soaping for Autumn. I recently went off my fall staple, BB's Ancient Sedona, and am looking for new ideas and suggestions. What fragrances make you think of Autumn?

    How have your ideals changed?

Oh boy can I relate to a lot of your stories! I, too, wanted to make only "natural" bars using organic ingredients from fair-trade, sustainably grown, small farms (etc.) but quickly realized that was pretty unrealistic. (As the joke goes, why spend $6 on a bar of soap when you can make one...

    Fragrance Oil Finder

For the past several weeks, fragranceoilfinder.com has been unavailable as the domain hasn't been renewed. It would be a shame to lose this resource forever, but I don't know what the options are. Does anyone know the webmaster?

    FO's

What a strange situation all around with regard to Mad Oils. A lot of people have been "paying attention", and this is what has led to some bad PR and a little bit of dismay among soapers and some of Mad Oils' customer base. Of course any business can change their focus at any point, but how...
