    Colors faded and vanished

They were sitting on my kitchen counter, but not near the window. It would have had more light if I had it in my bathroom with the window. It says they are for soaps, lotions and creams. The color is still in the white base just not in the clear. I guess I will have to test different brands.

    Colors faded and vanished

I just started making M & P soaps. I did a batch the other day using micas from elements. I mixed it with a bit of pure glycerin before pouring into the soap. The colors in the white based soaps stayed the same. The clear base came out beautiful dark sparkly colors. The next day, the blue in the...

I am sensitive to smells and can get a headache if something is too strong. I was surprised too that I could not smell any of their products. The other soap shop had great smells.

    My first M & P bars

Well 24 hours later and the colors faded in the clear ones. The blue is completely gone and back to clear. The deep dark colors in the layered bar now look light neon. I used micas and oxides from elements. Also, all the layers came apart. I guess I need to keep working on it.

    How to clean injector tool

So I used an injector tool today to make some small detail and now there is dried soap stuck in there and in the thin curved tip. How in the world will I clean this out?

    My first M & P bars

Below are my first attempt at easy melt and pour soaps. They are far from perfect, but not too bad. I like the triple layered one. Some issues were that the little blue flowers separated and there are bubbles in the clear one. I sprayed with alcohol but maybe not enough.

Thanks but I know how to figure that out the math part. What I need to know is how much is .008 or .2? How much vit e would someone add to 8 oz of oils & butters? Would it be a teaspoon? A tablespoon? 8 drops? How do I figure that out for my formula? Thanks

    Citrus Lip Balm?

I wonder too Hi. Everuthing I've read says not to use citrus oils in lip balms because they are photo sensitive and can cause skin to sunburn. Yet I see many lip balms and other B & B products using them. I would like to use eo's in my balms but I think I will just go natural and not worry...

    Need help with percentages

I want to add vitamin e to my lip balms and lotion bars. MMS suggests .1- .25 percent. How do I figure out what one tenth of a percent is in my receipie? What is the formula to calculate it? If I use 8 oz total of oils and butters what would that convert to for .1% (one tenth of 1 percent)? It...

    Beeswax cracked

The thermostat says 75. It's warm here today. I used pure beeswax. I also had a very diffucult time getting them out of the mold. I thought that beeswax is supposed to shrink? It didnt at all and even if it didnt crack in the mold it would have cracked when I was trying to pry it out. Oh well...

    Beeswax cracked

I use beeswax for lipbalms and lotion bars but I wanted to make some ornaments so this is the first time I am using straight wax. I poured the molds and while they were cooling they all cracked. Why is this? They are just sitting on the counter at room temp. I was thinking of making some beeswax...

    Stinging Lip Balm

Everyones different Everyone is different. I have never had a reaction to any other product on my skin other than peppermint oil. Of course there are lots of people who don't have a reaction and like to use it. Rose

    Stinging Lip Balm

Did you use peppermint oil? If you used pepppermint oil it's probably that. It burns like heck as soon as it touches my lips and even after I wipe it off. Now I know to never use a balm with that in it. Rose

    Packaging question

Hi. I'm new here and just started making salt & sugar scrubs which I eventually plan on selling. I have a question about packaging. Is it possible to package them in those stand up foil pouches? I know that a large amount of essential oils will eat through plastics, but I'm wondering if a small...
