How are you offsetting the cost of Olive Oil?

Rice bran oil is as expensive as olive oil here in the UK 😭

Advice needed: CP soap turning soft when used as hand soap.

Thanks KiwiMoose . I'm in the UK and I think all of those are available here. Might try C-3 as the description on the seller's website says it is 100% soy. :)

Legality of foraged products in soap

Hiya! I think it would be safer to ask your cosmetic chemist/ assessor. I knew of a lady in Northern Ireland who collected her own seaweed for the soaps that she sold - but best check with your assessor. :)

    What happened to Zany_in_CO?

Saddened to hear that Zany is no longer on the forum. She was one of the kindest and most generous contributors ... and always positive and upbeat. She will be missed.

Shower Lotion Bar Tests and recipes

Hi, yes, almond flour works just fine in this. I has some old almond flour in the back of my kitchen cupboard and used that to make the buffy bars, along with some old aduki beans and rice (doesn't have to be basmati.... any cheap rice will do - keep the basmati for the dinner table :)

Shower Lotion Bar Tests and recipes

Thank you for sharing :) Regarding Lush bars, a while back I read somewhere that the reason their products don't spoil without apparently having any 'preservatives' on the ingredients list is because the preservative is included as a component of the perfume. They tend to use a lot of 'fresh'...

    Soapmaking Spreadsheet Recipe Tool

Dear Grant, thank you for sharing your spreadsheet. Have downloaded it and am looking forward to using it soon. I'm a hobbyist (not a seller) and gift soaps and other skin care products to family and friends. I made a rudimentary spreadsheet years ago to keep track of my ingredients and costs...

Any tips for green natural colorants to use?

Try infusing your liquid oils (olive oil etc) with dried and powdered dandelion leaves like Tellervo does in her video below.

Same here.... had a few of my sentimental earrings turned into pendants and sometimes I wear the dangly ones as brooches.

My nails seem stronger, could it be the change in soap?

I would say yes, it is the handmade soap as I've had the same experience. My nails are stronger and have stopped flaking since I've been using handmade soap. And I don't need to use hand cream as much as before. I put it down to the superfat and glycerin in the soap.

    Rice Soap

SPowers- I love the idea of your exfoliating rice soap. Something to bear in mind about rice though... depending on where the rice is grown, it usually contains small amounts of arsenic. When you soak rice in water, the arsenic seeps out into the water. Personally, I wouldn't put that water on...

Where to buy sodium Chloride to make soap?

Sodium Chloride (NaCl) is the chemical name for common salt. You won't be able to make soap without lye - either Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) or Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) . If you only use sodium chloride you will end up with a bowl of salty oil. You can use sodium chloride (salt) to make salt bars...
