    Netepur stain remover soap

Has anyone heard of H2O cleaning products from France? One product is a small bar of soap called, Netepur, which is a stain remover. The ingredients are palm and coconut oil, water, sodium hydroxide, and tetrasodium etidronate. It is a good stain remover, but it is $12 a bar! I suspect the...

    Oops, 34% superfat

I miscopied a soap formula and made soap with a 34% superfat. Fourteen extra ounces were added by mistake. It is still sitting in the mold looking very pretty. I wonder if the high superfat will make this soap have a very short lifespan, or if it will be over the top wonderful...

    Color morphing in CP soap

I pictured a feminine soap with green and purple swirls, but the purple morphed into brown. (Obviously, I'm still learning about colorants!) So now it looks like the soap will be camoflage/woodsy. Sigh... I'll post pics after it's cut. Here's the pic: I'm calling it, "Green Pastures"...

    How much oil?

I have a slab mold that holds 4.5 lbs of soap. I haven't made that large a batch yet. How much oil do I need to make 4 lb soap? Thanks!

    First Pics

This is my first time posting photos. I enjoy seeing other's soaps, so hopefully you will enjoy seeing some of mine. The purple is a salt bar rebatch. http://a.imageshack.us/img809/422/amethystresized.jpg The green/white is Fig & Cucumber scent. I used cucumber puree...

    Ack! Separation

I wanted to make a soap with yogurt and cucumber puree, so soaped at lower temps, but forgot that yogurt, like goat milk, needs to stay cooler. Not only was the top layer colored, but I spent some time making a pretty textured top. I usually CPOP. so the mold went into a slightly prewarmed...

    Oils weight before & after

Here's a question for chemistry geeks: Does whipping air into hardened oils cause a decrease in weight? Here's what happened. I attempted a whipped soap using 16 oz of oils- 63% hard oils, 37% soft. The oils were put in the fridge to harden up before whipping. After whipping, the oils...

    RTCP Whipped Soap

I did a modified version of this technique - I chilled the oils, then whipped them together with a hand mixer before letting the mixture come to room temp (84), then added room temp lye solution and mostly stirred by hand, but did do a couple short blasts with the SB. Anyways, since there...

What are the advantage/disadvantages of adding these to cp soap? Are they both used to harden soap? What % should be used? Thanks!

    Apple Cider vinegar shampoo bar?

If apple cider vinegar is added to a glycerin soap base, would it change the ph of the soap? If only a couple of tablespoons are added, would there even be any benefit for use as a shampoo bar? Could ACV be added to CP soap at trace? Could ACV be added to a rebatched CP soap?

    No gel and hardness

Wanting to try RTCP and also learn about the differences between ungelled and gelled soap, , I recently made a batch of OO, CO, Palm, Sunflower oil, and Mango Butter. I used chilled lye and room temp oils, so the combined temp was around 85 degrees. The soap was poured into 5 individual molds...

    Castor oil

Castor oils seems to be the only oil with ricinoleic qualities. Is it an important oil to use in soapmaking? What difference does it make in the finished soap?

    Finding the "perfect" soap recipe

In your opinion, what makes a "perfect" soap recipe? With so many base oils and butters available, the combinations are endless, so how do you decide what makes a good mix? Once you find a recipe that you like, do you stick with it and use additives like color, fragrance, and herbs for...

    forgot the salt

So I planned to make a salt bar and forgot the salt! The Coconut Oil is 60%. Palm, Avocado, and Grapeseed make up the other 40%. The superfat is 10%. Soapcalc puts the cleansing at 40 on a scale of 12-22, and conditioning at 32 on a scale of 44-69. Is this soap going to be way too drying...
