    Replacing water with vinegar

I am just reading slowly through this thread, but I have to shout out to you all: YOU ARE ALL SO AWESOME!!! Thank you for being so curious and doing these things! I adore you all. Sorry I can be a bit excited when it comes to soap making, hahaha. But isnt this the best hobby!! Always something...

    A Cream Soap Tutorial

Thank you very much! That is what i thought... Also not in love with the process, but maybe the result will sweep me off my feet :-)

    A Cream Soap Tutorial

This is an awesome thread, thank everyone for the efforts, the tutorial is really great. I tried to read all the posts, but maybe I just overlooked it: Why whip when it is still so hard? Why not just leave it be as it is and you say it will get softer with time and you whip it then? Maybe its...

    Mountain soap - take 2

One of my first soaps was a mountain soap. I like clear lines in soap and have some people around me who like mountains, so it was a win-win. The way I did it was very complicated and finally, after a brain wave, I found an easier way to do it. You can read all about the making of the soap on...

To gel or not to gel

I don't use palm at all. I don't use animal fats (because the people I give my soap to are a bit touchy on that subject). I do use a lot of coconut. Because I love bubbly. Mostly something like 50%. Could it be the coconut in that high percentage?

    de-funk de pits

Thank you Dahlia (2.000 posts! Wow! Congratulations :) ). I should have probably said: replace some of the beeswax with Cera Bellina. Alone it is too soft, but together with beeswax you can get a softer consistency for your deo stick.

To gel or not to gel

There are some benefits of gelling, but I usually dislike it and try to keep my soaps from doing it. Some are stubborn and then I usually end up with soaps that are kind of rubbery. Very strange consistency. I find it doesn't really go away. Like with aging, when the soap gets older it would...

    custom made molds

I made some molds for myself. Just bought a two component silicone and tried it. It was really easy and I am pleased with the results. The one thing I would tell my past "me" is to not build the container for the molds too big. It uses up too much silicone and then you end up having to cut it...

    Rainbow Pencil Lines

That's really a nice soap! And I love it when the lines are a bit bumpy. I think it looks really cool! Congratulations!

    Liquid soap - too easy

The dilution is the hardest. But start with too little distilled water, intentionally, and then work your way up. For me it seems that adding the dermofeel which is a co-emulsifier changed everything. Now it is not anymore a true and classic soap, but something modified, but I love the texture...

How to deal with stearic acid

Thank you all for your replies. They are very helpful to me. ... and that's what I also thought thinking about the soap afterwards: I inadvertently did a hp soap. Was kinda cool :)

    de-funk de pits

This sounds really great. There is something called Cera Bellina out there. Its some kind of modified beeswax, I quickly googled this, but there is ton of other sites out there http://www.lotioncrafter.com/cera-bellina.html Its much softer than beeswax. I actually have it. Its great. Maybe you...

Do you "hate" any oil in particular?

I use it very often (I call it canola) and buy the cheapest there is (not enough money to feed my addiction) and it works wonderfully. Maybe use another brand?

    Soap Pics -- Guess Who?

Do you "hate" any oil in particular?

Hi Rune, just wanted to tell you that in German canola and rapeseed oil are the same. Not sure if its gmo in Austria, might be. But its a wonderful oil in soap. I do think there are some differences in those things between the US and Europe. Do try it!

Are you obsessed with soap making?

When I first starting making soaps I was completely and utterly obsessed with it. I guess people were talking to me of other things, must have gone to work too, but all I remember is thinking about soap. Seeing soap molds everywhere, waking up in the night making recipes in my mind, thinking...

How to deal with stearic acid

Hi, after the shaving soap I now made some make up brush cleaner soap. Both of them with high stearic acid content. As this is a "special" ingredient I wanted to ask you for your advice, helpful hints and ideas. It seems if you use a lot of stearic acid (30% was the highest I dared to go so...

    Liquid soap - too easy

This wonderful site has taught me how to make liquid soap. IrishLass in particular has wonderful tutorials and explanations. Can't thank everyone enough. Soaping has taught me so much and one of things is, that there are usually many ways to be successful. So I wanted to post my recipe and...

Do you "hate" any oil in particular?

Wonderful thread! Thank you This is probably going to get me thrown off this site, but I hate olive oil. I've made plenty, because everyone is so excited about it, and many have turned out just horrible. Mostly really crumbly. Some I seem to remember had something of a dry sponge quality. Of...

    Love this forum!

Thank you all! Very kind ... and IrishLass: I made a liquid soap, it took something like 20 mins, just melting the oils and then not even 2 mins with the stick blender (until floating bubbles) and it really came out well. Nearly disappointing ;-) everyone making a fuss, taking hours to do it...
