    December Un-Challenge - Retry

Peanut oil/groundnut oil that we get in India does have this colour so colour is no indicator of the type of oil. EU regulations are very rigid so I really doubt if mustard oil could have been sent instead of groundnut oil. Either mustard oil has been mislabeled as groundnut oil or other way round.

Emulsified body butter, but no water.

Can one not add an emulsifier without adding any water or water based ingredient to a mix of butters and oils to ensure that the butters don't melt in high temperature areas? The product will be more like balm than body butter though.

Often this kind of merging happens when the batter is thinner than the ideal consistency.

    another indictment against palm oil

The reason people/natural resources from Asian and African countries are exploited is because there are corporations/governments who gain from it. When you look at the ingredient list of products you consume and seek to know where the ingredients are coming from and at what price, you'll see who...

    Can I rebatch Soleseife Soap?

So I tried following things Made a solution of lye and water to reduce SF to an acceptable limit. Coloring Solid Shampoo

I have coloured the shampoo bars to go with the fragrance in the bar. I had read somewhere that purple coloured shampoos help to reduce brassiness of blond hair.

Wow, interesting. On-demand-glycerine-rivers would be so cool. The soap is very inviting - like cool summer breeze.

    Can I rebatch Soleseife Soap?

Thanks - I'll try that. Just in case the lye solution does not mix properly, any idea if hot processing it will cause separation or not?

    Can I rebatch Soleseife Soap?

Great! Thanks The SF at 35% seems a little excessive. If the soap comes together then it will feel lovely except it may dissolve far more quickly than is nice.

    Can I rebatch Soleseife Soap?

I miscalculated the amount of lye while making a batch of soleseife soap so that the soap is extremely mushy even after 2 days in individual cavities. Can I rebatch soleseife soap by mixing it with some more lye solution (40%) over gentle heat? Or will the presence of salt lead to separation...

January 2019 SMF Challenge - DOTS Entry Thread

Incredible! Thank you :-) What patience you have and how lovely. I need to practice painting on paper before working on a soap and even then can't think of doing such an intricate work in large numbers. Maybe just one or two as showpieces.

    Aloha!

As a newbie I'd avoid beeswax till I am confident handling fast tracing soap. You can go to any percentage with Olive oil - you may need longer cure time if you have higher percentage of Olive oil. Olive oil - 50% Rice bran oil - 20% Coconut oil - 15% (Or you can lower it up to 10% and...
