    Rings?

I've seen these rings in pictures of homemade soaps online. But what exactly do these rings mean? I read somewhere about gel phase but don't quite understand it...?

Okay so I finally made some honey soap...it came out great! But we will see...I messed up the measurements so I had to use a makeshift oddball mold. ):

    Honey Soap

I was asking about adding beeswax and honey to soap in the recipes section and just wanted to ask here about my recipe (below) before experimenting! Anything I should know, or be wary of before something blows up in my face from mixing?

    All About Da Bees

Now that I have made two perfect batches of soap, I am hooked. Walking around the store I always see soap with beehive or bee shaped molds which made me wonder....can you incorporate beeswax and/or honey into your recipe? I ran a simple soap recipe through the calculator (adding beeswax) only to...

    Hilbilly Soap

So the first picture is my first batch I've ever made of soap. 55% Lard, 25% Coconut Oil, 20% Olive Oil. Came out great being unscented with a fantastic lather. The second picture I just whipped up today with 55% Lard, 5% Castor, 20% Coconut, 20% Olive oils. I also added .5 oz of lavender...

It is a very windy day here in florida. Soap, lye, paper was flying everywhere. My postal scale auto...

    Postal Scale

Hi everyone! Just a quick question regarding the weighing of oils/fats with a postal scale. Would A) It be better to weigh each oil in a separate container or B) Can I just throw in one oil, tare, next oil, tare, etc. Into one container? Maybe I'm just obsessive compulsive but I feel option B...

    1lb soap = 2 cups? (Liquid)

Okay so I haven't made anything yet, but I have a recipe to make a simple 1lb batch of soap. My question is...a 1lb batch of soap is the equivalent of 2 Liquid cups right? So if I wanted to test a mold with water, Can I just fill up 2 cups of water and pour? Or am I missing something? Basically...

    New To Soaping

Hi everyone! My name is Jonathan. I am a college student living at home. My sister and I have been really curious and excited to start begin creating soaps from scratch. I have watched numerous Youtube videos, and know the bare bone basics. (Trace, Saponification, etc.). So I trashed my home...
