    Iowa Nice.

You could just call him and say something to the effect of "I am so sorry, but something has come up and I am going to have to cancel your tour. I will give you a call when my schedule can accommodate your request." That will leave it open ended with the ball in your court, in a very polite...

    Shampoo Bar - Thanks Lindy!!

I tried making this recipe HP last night, and I must have done something WRONG!! My bar is hard in the mold, but there is oil in the mold as well, it didn't all absorb/saponify/etc.. Did I just take it out of the Crock too soon? It was in there for an hour. I have read conflicting directions for...

"I will PAY you to teach me!"

I agree 100%. I am learning and have learned soaping by just jumping into it. It's not enough for me to do months of research on something that has life-applicable skills; I have to learn as I'm going along. --quoting Arimara I agree! I originally looked into soaping because my "Master Plan"...

    First successful Milk batch!

Here is the unmolding! It looks like it did gel to some extent, as it has the "ring". The scent has turned a bit chemically to me; my husband thinks I'm imagining it, but I'm not happy with it right now. We'll see if it dissipates some as it cures. The other loaf in the picture is another batch...

    Fragrance Buddy FO test

LoL, Thanks for the detailed response, and the link, I will definitely check it out and see what I can contribute. I do remember now you mentioning yogurt cups, I think my brain was getting so muddled trying to keep up with the thread that by the time I wrote my reply I just felt like a dunce...

    Fragrance Buddy FO test

I'm confused :-? Forgive my ignorance... I am reading all of your lovely reviews, and am trying to figure out what chart you are talking about, what the #'s are correlating to ( I see the pics with the #'s on the sample) as far as a master list, and then I see the word "restricted" in your...

    First successful Milk batch!

It smells wonderful! Like a toned down version of the FO, which is good for me, because I thought the FO scent was maybe a bit too sweet.

    Introduction: Greetings from NH

Hi Leilani! I have been looking at homemade soaps for a few years, but didn't actually start until a few months ago when I was trying to figure out a cheap way to give Christmas gifts to my 5 siblings. I learned 3 things pretty quick: 1. It's a lot more intricate than I thought it would be...

    First successful Milk batch!

yes, as an afterthought, a scrap piece of bubble wrap that was nearby. It didn't quite cover the whole top I didn't want to waste time searching for more. I left some of the oatmeal unground, and put those at the bottom of the mold so that they will be on the other side of the bar.

    First successful Milk batch!

After the helpful suggestion to use a split method, I added my buttermilk the oils before the lye, then placed in the freezer to prevent gelling. It does look like it cracked on top, but I can't tell how far down it goes... Not ready to cut yet, but will post the follow up :-) On another...

    Milk Mahem

Thanks for the feedback! I didn't realize you could use powdered milk...I haven't outgrown my box yet ;-) Cinnamaldehyde- when mixing teaspoon by teaspoon onto the frozen block, how much are you getting dissolved before the next teaspoon, and how do you see around the block? I want to do the...

    Milk Mahem

I'm stuck! My non-dairy soaps have been trucking along without tooooo many hitches (just normal learn as you go stuff), but milk seems to be my demon  I have tried buttermilk, goat's milk, and cow's milk...and with each attempt, the dairy demons are cackling and poking me with their...
