Coming back to soap making - Liquid Soap Help!

Hey there! I haven't made soap in over a year and when I did make soap, I was making CP bar soap! I'm now interested in making some liquid soap for Christmas gifts and have a few questions.. 1. Can I use soapcalc to determine the properties of a liquid soap? Or is there a liquid soap...

Does the smell of the BASE OILS fade eventually?

Maybe it's just my nose then.. It's tarnished from the stink of that beer soap.

Does the smell of the BASE OILS fade eventually?

I think it's the Babassu and Castor Oil I used Olive, Castor, Coconut, Babassu, Sal butter and Shea butter

Does the smell of the BASE OILS fade eventually?

I think my combination of base oils might stink a bit.. and I was wondering if those smells fade away during curing?

    LOL! Stinky Beer Soap!

Nice :) I had one cedarwood base and one vetiver.. I went with the vetiver.. but I think the cedarwood is a bit nicer because it's more fresh scented in comparison.

    LOL! Stinky Beer Soap!

I did.. It's like a smoky leather smell.. We'll see if it smells good.. I'm having doubts though. I don't think it's a good soap smell. I was trying to make a man smell.. HAHA!

    LOL! Stinky Beer Soap!

Okay! Thank you. I'm hoping it goes away.. And I'm hoping my EO blend isn't TOO awful once it settles.. LOL! Vetiver smells really smoky woodsy.

    LOL! Stinky Beer Soap!

I made this really nice Guinness soap.. And I made my own EO blend (don't even ask) and it smells SO FREAKIN' DISGUSTING!!! I just wanted to share.. Okay the EO blend had Vetiver, Clove, Lavender, Patchouli in it.. lol. This soap smells like a wet dog (maybe it's the coffee grinds, maybe it's...

Is doing M&P Cheating? Like a Box Cake Mix?

I feel like melt and pour is cheating.. but I also feel that it's possibly a fun way to do different things that you might not be able to do with CP soap. I feel like a CP soap is more natural.. as you decide every ingredient that goes in it..

    Brambleberry says different (lye/water ratio)

I do love spreadsheets.. I'm going to make one while my lye mixture cools! ^_^

    Brambleberry says different (lye/water ratio)

I do the calcs by hand and always check with an online lye calculator.. I was just not thinking to check my SAP values.. but all that means is that I know what to verify next time because this will be ingrained in my brain! :)

    Brambleberry says different (lye/water ratio)

WELL! Hahaha there's the problem! I somehow managed to use the wrong sap value for EVERY SINGLE oil... I must have mixed them up when reading off the page.. lol

    Brambleberry says different (lye/water ratio)

I'll double check my sap values.. I'm using NaOH

    Brambleberry says different (lye/water ratio)

I did all the calculations to determine my lye/water ratio for this new soap twice.. 907.18g oils, 5% superfatted Castor Oil: 5% Coconut Oil: 11% Babassu Oil: 11% Sal Butter: 12% Shea Butter: 5% Olive Oil: 56% Hand calculated, my lye/water ratio should be: 139.54g lye/302.21g water...

    After all that deliberation...

Thanks everyone! It makes me think of a creamy maple fudge.. Mmmm :)

    After all that deliberation...

Thank you! :) ..My other bars were not squishy at all when I unmolded them.. So perhaps they were too hard by that point.. Hence why I threw caution to the wind on this loaf! haha

    After all that deliberation...

I made a bar of soap that cut and did not crumble! I probably cut a bit too soon.. But I prefer too soon over too late! And it's such a cute colour because of the honey I added to the lye water. Adding honey to lye water does crazy things! It turned bright orange and then dark brown (the same...
