    Newbie Cleanup Questions

I do not master batch yet, but I notice alot of people use laundry detergent bottles (cleaned out of course). When I do decide to master batch, that is what I will use.

    First candles, need advice

You should certainly feel the tin as it burns down to see how hot it gets. Tins heat up. You don't want it too hot that you can't touch it :)

    First candles, need advice

What burn is this? First Second etc? How did the tin feel to you as it was burning? It looks OK to me, but I haven't done tins in awhile. I do know that the tins get very hot towards the end, so it is OK for hang up on the first few burns. What size tin is this and wick size? Otherwise, it...

Troubleshooting my first CP soap recipe

Those little areas you see around the coffee grounds don't look like anything to worry about to me. I have had that happen when I add ground oats or coffee grounds. Sometimes with using silicone molds you may need to wait a bit longer to unmold. Sometimes you need to wait 1 more day (as...

What soapy thing have you done today?

My day off is Wednesday, I like Wednesday for soaping because it is my "I'm alone hubby is working" day, it is MY day to enjoy and do whatever I dang well want to do.....pfffffttt....yeah right. I think about all these soapy/candle things that I am certainly going to do on Wednesday on my day...

    Your first soap

Gosh, my first soap was back in 2006? Holy Canoli that was 12 years ago! I have the recipe in my binder, but not in front of me. I do know it was a recipe from Ann Watson. I remember the fragrance though, it was "Soapy Clean" from Bramble Berry. That is such a nice soapy scent, need to get...

My first soap recipe - need advice

What calculator are you using? I ran it thru soap calc and got the below. The numbers in parenthesis you have are correct. I also use 1oz of FO per pound, but that is me. But, that recipe is very cleansing....I would lower the amount of coconut oil and up the olive, or lower the coconut...

    First time using Lard

I use Lard all the time and to be honest, I never noticed if there was a piggy smell. Are you all smelling it in solid form when you open the container/brick? Or just when heated. I buy the Armour Containers from Walmart and I just never noticed a smell. I smoke though, so maybe my nose is...

    30% OFF Closeouts at Elements B & B

Thanks Zany! I love Elements. I may just place an order, not that I need to, but I have been out of their Balsam & Citrus, and it's my absolute favorite Holiday scent. I may just order that Apple Martini that is on closeout too. I have some Lavender Martini of theirs and I love that one.

    Grieving pet loss

I'm so very sorry Obsidian. It just plain sucks. No other words for it. My first dog was after we got married. His name was Sigi and he was 11. He got a twisted stomach in the middle of the night one night and man....hardest thing I had to do. Long story...but I cried so much that my eyes...

What made you pick your avatar/ username?!

Mine is a teenage nickname given to me by my mom and stepdad. As a teen, I was always getting in trouble for going to parties at one of my best friends house (when her parents weren't home). I would tell my parents I was going to 1 friends house, but in reality we were all going to the party...

    Candles - max FO load?

Hey dixie What wax are you using and what wicks? Different waxes hold different amounts. For instance I use IGI 4627 paraffin and that wax has a max load of 10%. I typically will use 8 though....and adjust my wicks if necessary. I use HTP wicks.

    Question for computer savvy peeps

Yep, scam. Hoping you would call the number, then they could tell you to give them remote access so they "can fix your computer remotely" and wham...they are in your computer, taking your data. You did the right thing by shutting down. I have a lifetime subscription to Malwarebytes. I...

    Which Diffuser does everyone recommend?

Hi Hannah I have the exact diffusor navigator has. Years ago I used to have a mister type thing that diffused the oils with water into the air via a glass shaped thingy, but it broke and was loud so I bought the one above. Theses days I am in the market for a new diffuser and have one in my...

    First Batch

I think it turned out awesome looking! Great Job! I have been soaping for a long time and I still have soaps come out not looking like I hoped. It's all good, and just gives me a reason to do another batch and another batch and another batch to try to get the look that was in my head lol.

What soapy mistake have you made today?

I used to soap in my kitchen too. But we have an empty rental in our duplex home and well....for the last 8 years it has been empty (our choice, I just don't want to have close tenants anymore) and I turned that kitchen into my soap and candle area years ago LOL. Hubby has been harping on me...

What soapy mistake have you made today?

As far as the rubber spatulas, I would not use them after soaping with them either. I think the logic is that being rubber, they are porous...so to be on the safe side, I have utensils like that strictly for soap only. All of my plastic soap bowls, measuring cups, lye pitcher etc are clearly...
