    Chocolate Chip Cookies

Yep, it sure is. The volumes just don't work out nicely as multiples of 1/4 cups. Recipe makes about 18 cookies.

    Chocolate Chip Cookies

Here is my favorite recipe thus far. Next time, I might use less sugar. 30g coconut oil 60g Kerry Gold butter, salted 180g turbinado sugar 1 large pasture-raised egg 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp hot water 180g flour 150g Ghirardelli semi-sweet chocolate chips Warm the...

    Glue for Shaving Brushes?

Have any of you tried making your own shaving brushes? I need advice on how to attach the knot to the handle. I am thinking of just gluing it on, but I need an adhesive that is waterproof, durable, and non-toxic. Any suggestions? My broken chair is on its way to becoming a shaving brush.

What do you do when you can't soap?

Gigi, nice loom! I would love to see your fabric too. :) Speaking of homemade tools, I built a small backyard forge this past summer and have been trying to learn basic blacksmithing, starting with forging nails. Lucky for me, there is an awesome metal supplier right down the street from...

    Anyone sew?

My mother was a professional seamstress and very accomplished with embroidery, crocheting, and knitting. She made much of my clothes when I was a child but never taught me how to sew more than a button! Driven by the declining quality of ready-made clothes and size inflation (I remember being...

    sweetened condensed milk in soap?

Update: I made a bar of this last week. My condensed milk and lye were refrigerated before use, and I had no problems with scorching. However, the smell was something else! This batch was demoted from curing in the house to curing outside in the backyard. fuzz-juzz, don't encourage me!

    sweetened condensed milk in soap?

I have never made soap with honey before. How much do people typically use ppo? Should I mix it with the water before adding lye or at trace? Thanks for your help! Really appreciate it!

    Soap abuse

Better report it to the authorities... By the way, is that a bolt lodged in the second soap? Sexy man sure has tough skin!

    sweetened condensed milk in soap?

Hi, has anyone tried adding sweetened condensed milk to soap? I am thinking that this would give the soap a dose of both lather-boosting sugar and skin-conditioning milk. The bf loves Vietnamese coffee, and we have just enough of the condensed milk left over for one soap experiment :)

    Question about salt and limescale

I think I remember reading that table salt in soap helps prevent limescale from forming. Is this true?
